It's a bad day for American democracy today.
Worryingly, the Supreme Court made a terrible ruling on immunity, which could have devastating effects.
The case originated from Trump's assertion of immunity from criminal prosecution regarding his endeavors to overturn his defeat in the 2020 presidential election. These efforts culminated in a violent incursion by his supporters into the Capitol, causing disruption to the certification of Biden's victory.

Biden tells ally he’s weighing whether to stay in the race: Reports
PUBLISHED WED, JUL 3 202412:15 PM EDTUPDATED 4 HOURS AGOPresident Joe Biden has told a key ally that his reelection campaign against former President Donald Trump may not be recoverable if he cannot quell concerns about his fitness for office in the coming days, The New York Times first reported Wednesday.
The unnamed ally said Biden is still invested in the reelection fight, but he is aware that his upcoming public appearances must go well after his devastating presidential debate with Trump last week.
“He knows if he has two more events like that, we’re in a different place” by the end of the weekend, said the ally, according to the Times.
The Times quoted one of Biden’s top advisors, also anonymously, who said the president is “well aware of the political challenge he faces.”
Later on Wednesday, CNN reported that Biden had acknowledged his perilous position in a similar conversation with an ally. “He sees the moment. He’s clear-eyed,” that ally told CNN.
It was unclear if the two outlets were reporting the same conversation. CNBC and NBC News have not independently confirmed the reports. Read more

This is just ridiculous.
Not only official act cannot be prosecuted, but they can't be used as evidence to support what is "non-official" act. Which mean you can't basically determine what did the president do is an official act and what is not because everything a President did have some official capacity to it. For example, using the military to arrest/assassinate political rival even with a private intention, that would have been an official act (because he used his executive power to call the military for action) and since you can't use the official act as evidence (Hence you can't use that fact that he called up the military to arrest/assassinate the rival) You can't basically persecute the president for that private act.
Well, now I hope Biden realise this and to take this into account and fully utilise the power SCOTUS just gave him, as the CURRENT President of the United States, I wouldn't mind if Trump was thrown in jail or worse, I mean, 2 can play this game.
