US Political News and Trump’s China visit

I know a couple retired NYPD officers who were there when Adams wore a badge. They were less than flattering about him.

Yes, it seems to be the consensus amongst people when they ask about Adam’s past.

Btw, it seems Trump wants to send illegals to Gitmo. It seems this has become a spectacle. I guess the public will just be watching and signing, “Heigh Ho Heigh Ho, off to Gitmo they go”. Ironically, Obama deported a lot in his day.

I’ll be honest, going after the hardened criminals, you won’t hear many Americans like myself give push back, but those that have been here for decades and been law abiding after entry, should be given a pathway to citizenship. I say build the wall, but consider a Reagan style Amnesty.

Actually, the Navajo and Hopi Nations are on the north end of the state. The Yaqui and Tohono O'odom Nations are closer to Mexico. The Tohono O'odom, formerly referred to as Papago, Nation actually borders the Mexican border.

Simpson-Mazzoli, which you know as Reagan Amnesty, was a failure. There cannot be any repeat. Address the border issue and actually securing the border BEFORE there are any discussions about amnesty and what that should entail.

Here Are Trump’s Expected Executive Orders

Top advisers briefed reporters on many of them. Here are some of the major elements.

Immigration and the Border

  • Close the border to asylum-seeking migrants.
  • Declare an end to birthright citizenship, a guarantee granted by the 14th Amendment, for the children of undocumented immigrants. The president cannot change the Constitution on his own, so it’s not yet clear how Trump plans to withhold the benefits of citizenship to a group of people born in the United States. The move is all but certain to be challenged in court.

  • Involve the U.S. military in border security. This would draw immediate legal challenges because of the strict limits in American law for how the armed forces can be deployed inside the country.
  • Declare migrant crossings along the U.S.-Mexico border to be a national emergency, which would allow Mr. Trump to unilaterally unlock federal funding for border wall construction, without approval from Congress, for stricter enforcement efforts.
  • Designate drug cartels as “global terrorists.”

Federal Work Force

  • End remote work policies and order many agencies back to the office 4-5 days a week.

Gender and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Initiatives

  • Establish biological sex definitions for federal workers and as part of revised Title IX guidance to schools
  • Remove protections for transgender people in federal prisons.
  • Remove protections for transgender migrants in U.S. custody.

Tariffs and Trade

  • Direct federal agencies to begin an investigation into trade practices, including trade deficits, unfair currency practices, counterfeit goods and a special exemption that allows low-value goods to come into the United States tariff free.
  • Assess China’s compliance with a trade deal Mr. Trump signed in 2020, as well as the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement, which Trump signed in 2020 to replace the North American Free Trade Agreement.
  • Order the government to assess the feasibility of creating an “External Revenue Service” to collect tariffs and duties.

Energy and the Environment

  • Declare a national energy emergency, which could allow him to unlock powers to speed permitting for pipelines and power plants.

  • Order the federal government to roll back regulations that impede domestic energy production.
  • Signal an intention to loosen the limits on tailpipe pollution and fuel economy standards, which Mr. Trump refers to as an “electric vehicle mandate.”
  • Roll back energy-efficiency regulations for dishwashers, shower heads and gas stoves.
  • Open the Alaska wilderness to more oil and gas drilling.
  • Eliminate environmental justice programs across the government, which are aimed at protecting poor communities from excess pollution.
Germans were researching transgender stuff well before the rest of the world during WW2

The South American and other illegal immigrants should have as much right to stay in the US as the illegal white settlers who moved to the Americas without permission from the natives.

I agree that the border needs to be secured. I even agree we need to build the wall, and put in keep in place policies that deter illegal immigration. But unless we are going to “rehabilitate” part of our population, not use to working such work, including by paying a decent wage and access to affordable housing, to work in the poultry processing plants and other industries staffed in large part by migrant labor, we need that migrant labor.

On the Navajos, I said it was “close enough”, because apparently the agents who wouldn’t accept their proof of identity documents must have been thinking they were migrants.

@Khansaheeb I'm not sure how you expect me to respond to that, but I will say on the matter, those kinds of appeals aren’t being listen to. Trump is past that talking about stripping the citizenship of children born in the US to lawful residents on visas. So, illegal South American residents are being looked at as well as South Asian children of legal residents but on temporary visas. Although, I don’t fall in any of these categories or actually know many that do fall in these categories, I can see the harm to both the residents and the country that would happen by removing many of these law abiding people from the US. Similar to how I say the children of Afghans born in Pakistan and having lived their whole lives in Pakistan, should have a pathway to citizenship, while at the same time the violent ones need to be expelled and Pakistan needs a secure border defense/wall.

What was actually said at Trump's inauguration

Sadly, Adam Schiff is not very bright as evidenced by his exchange with Pam Bondi not to mention his "Russian collusion delusion" proof but never offered any such evidence. I cannot take him seriously and frankly, if not for the pre-emptive pardon given by Joe Biden, he should be on the other side of the podium.

U.S. Senators Katie Britt (R-Ala.), Tom Cotton (R-Ark.), and Kevin Cramer (R-N.Dak.) have reintroduced the Not One More Inch or Acre Act, legislation aimed at preventing individuals or businesses affiliated with the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) from owning real estate in the United States.

The move comes amid growing concerns about the CCP’s acquisition of hundreds of thousands of acres of American farmland, including properties near U.S. military installations. Proponents of the legislation cite national security, economic stability, and food security as key motivations for the proposed measures

“One acre of American farmland owned by the Chinese Communist Party is one acre too many,” said Senator Britt, emphasizing the risks associated with CCP ownership near military bases and its potential impact on U.S. agriculture and national security.

The Not One More Inch or Acre Act, which would prevent any Chinese individual or business from owning American land. The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has purchased hundreds of thousands of acres of farmland across the United States, including property immediately adjacent to military bases.

“One acre of American farmland owned by the Chinese Communist Party is one acre too many. The CCP’s strategic acquisition of farmland, particularly near our military installations, isn’t just a national security risk, it is a threat to our economic and food security. The Not One More Inch or Acre Act provides President Trump with the necessary authority to safeguard American interests, secure our agriculture industry, and protect our homeland to ensure American farmland stays out of the hands of our adversaries,”

Trump tariffs stand to leave his voters feeling 'betrayed,' says Kentucky Gov. Beshear

Regarding your question about a Republican Senator, are you familiar with the case of Duke Cunningham? Who was President then?
What about Duke Cunningham? All I know is that he was not charged under the Trump administration.
