The recent elections in Canada and Australia have shown that Trump has been a major advantage for left-leaning parties in both countries. Their chances of winning were slim, and there was widespread consensus that both would have lost. However, Trump’s trade and tariff wars, along with his hostile rhetoric toward Western allies, helped liberal parties secure victory.
One can debate the extent of his influence on these elections, but there is no question that he played a negative role in the defeat of right-leaning candidates in both countries. Given the impact he has had on elections abroad, I have no doubt that Democrats will reclaim the House in 2026. His policies and rhetoric will continue to alienate voters, making a Democratic victory all but certain. I look forward to seeing balance restored in American politics.
