US Politics

So lemme guess, Kaur has 'it' factor? Nope that does not even begin to compute! Infact in many precints, there are actually democrats who are voting enmasses for her favour in caucus by filling affiliation change forms.

This entire primary for republican party is about pissed off MAGA getting even with everyone -- including Republican party itself.

Unfortunately in USA, the polling method even in primaries, is first past the post. Meaning the ACTUAL second choice is not even known. Unless you do another election that is. Had it been RCV, you would have known who is actually desired.

From what I have seen, MAGA crowd -- till Trump Vivek feud happened -- is not really as opposed to Vivek. But they have a hell to pick with anyone who is not directly supporting Trump. And unlike Yang he is speaking what the MAGA crowd always wanted to hear : A conspiracy, a strong leader deliverance by big swing changes. All the things they like. If Trump is not in game, he will completely dominate other if the base they are fighting for the same MAGA base.

SlammaJammy dropped out. He quit. lol told you. It was over for him in december, when he failed to qualify for the January debates.

Lmao, Democrats aren't voting for Nimrata, you don't know anything about the US election process. These are closed primaries and only registered republicans can vote. The people boosting Haley are the Republican donors and the Chamber of Commerce ppl who hate trump internally, b/c Trump overthrew them..

Trump, DeSantis, Haley all leading Biden in new poll

BY LAUREN SFORZA - 01/15/24 8:15 AM ET

The three top GOP presidential candidates are all leading President Biden in a hypothetical general election match-up, according to a new poll.
The CBS News/YouGov poll found that former President Trump, former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis each edge out Biden in a head-to-head match-up. While Trump remains the clear favorite in the GOP primary, Haley fared the best against Biden.

Haley had an 8-point lead over Biden — 53 percent support to 45 percent. This is likely due to her garnering more support among moderates and Independents than what Trump and DeSantis received, according to the survey.
The poll found that 59 percent of independent voters would support Haley in a match-up with Biden, while 55 percent and 54 percent of independents would back DeSantis and Trump, respectively.
In a contest with Biden, DeSantis received 51 percent of support, while the president received 48 percent.
The match-up between Biden and Trump, the two front-runners for the 2024 election, was the closest among the GOP presidential hopefuls. The poll found that 50 percent of respondents would vote for Trump and 48 percent would vote for Biden.
Trump still maintains a comfortable lead in the GOP primary, according to the new survey, leading the field by 55 points among GOP voters. Trump has 69 percent of support, DeSantis has 14 percent and Haley has 12 percent.
The poll was conducted from Jan. 10-12 among 2,870 adults and has a margin of error of 2.5 percentage points. The poll also included responses from 786 likely Republican primary voters, which has a margin of error of 4.7 percentage points.

Trump beating Biden in Georgia in early 2024 poll

headshot

Data: AJC Legislative Survey; Chart: Axios Visuals
President Biden trails former President Trump by eight percentage points in a hypothetical rematch in Georgia, according to an Atlanta Journal-Constitution poll of registered voters out Tuesday.
Why it matters: The poll offers an early warning sign for Biden, who flipped Georgia blue in 2020 for the first time in nearly three decades.
Driving the news: Trump led Biden 45-37% in the poll of registered voters, with 6% undecided and another 12% planning to back a different candidate or not vote.
  • Independent voters appear unenthusiastic about turning out for either candidate in 2024, with 14% saying they would not vote for president.
Flashback: An AJC-University of Georgia poll from November found Biden and Trump essentially tied in Georgia.
  • Biden won Georgia by less than 12,000 votes in 2020.
Zoom in: The poll shows Biden's support wavering among Black Georgians, a voting bloc that was key to his success in Georgia in 2020.
  • 10% of Black Georgians don't plan to vote for president in 2024, according to the AJC poll out Tuesday.
  • 58.6% of Black Georgians say they would support Biden, while 20.4% said they would support Trump.
Between the lines: The poll shows that Republican voters in Georgia aren't fully unified around Trump, with almost one-fifth saying that they would not support the former president if the election were held today.
  • 3% of Republicans said they would vote for Biden, while 6.6% of Republican voters said they would support another Republican candidate.
  • Trump won the 2024 Iowa caucuses in a dominant fashion on Monday, establishing himself as the frontrunner for the nomination.
Zoom out: The Biden campaign has ramped up its 2024 messaging in recent weeks and is increasingly presenting the election as an existential threat to democracy if Trump is elected.

  • Biden is seeking to cast the election in stark terms, rather than present it as a referendum on his first-term in office.
  • The poll found that 62% of registered Georgia voters say they disapprove of Biden's job performance, with 51% saying they "strongly disapprove."
Methodology: The poll was a live interviewer telephone survey conducted January 3-11, 2024 that included a total of 1,007 registered voters in Georgia. It was administered by the School of Public and International Affairs Survey Research Center at the University of Georgia.
  • The calculated margin of error for the total sample is +/-3.1 points at the 95% confidence level.
Editor's note: This story has been corrected to say that President Biden trails former President Trump by eight percentage points in the poll, not 8%.

I hope to God that dementia patient Biden runs again. Democrats won't be able to cheat enough to prevent Trump winning again.

Trump is going to take New Hampshire as well. Keep the news coming guys, all eyes next week on the state.

You do not know about "Affiliation Change Forms"? And you live in USA? LMAO!!!

Can an independent vote in a primary election?

A.
Yes and No. In Iowa, you must be a member of a political party (currently: Republican, Democratic, and Libertarian) to vote in a primary election. However, anyone* can change parties on Election Day and vote. For independents to vote they must declare a political party.

*Precinct election officials may not change political parties within 30 days of an election.

Also Iowa is a partially open primary state!

Partially Open

This system permits voters to cross party lines, but they must publicly declare their ballot choice or their ballot selection may be regarded as a form of registration with the corresponding party. Iowa asks voters to choose a party on the state voter registration form, yet it allows a primary voter to publicly change party affiliation for purposes of voting on primary election day. Some state parties keep track of who votes in their primaries as a means of identifying their backers.
