It's not about rounding up and deporting illegal immigrants; it's about HOW they round up and deport illegal immigrants.
Case in point, are you, yourself, afraid of being detain by ICE? I remember correctly you told me you did. The thing is, you went there legally, and you are afraid of being rounded up and deported? That's not right.
The thing is, you may not count because you can't vote, but for every one of you, there are a few people who can. Your wife, for example, and her family, would they and your family vote for Trump if they were US citizens? Or will they vote for Trump or whoever comes after him, going after the same thing he stands for?
The motto of Law Enforcement is "Protect and Serve," which DOES NOT mean the government, Philadelphia PD is not there to protect and serve the Pennsylvania government; it's there to protect and serve its people, and they are losing trust in the people.
And let me tell you which Police Department protect and serve the country, China.
What you said is true, although my co-worker group is 70% left leaning but 2-3 are more central or little bit right but not to a point of where they would want a legal immigrant to be caught up or feel threatened.
to your point of my personal case, yes I came here legally and as of 2026 this is my 6th year in USA, not a single dime ever taken in Aid/assistance (not that I see anything wrong but not needed and should go to people in need), not a single crime/traffic violation, paid taxes every year with no hidden assets, work my booty off to get to this point where i am financially (thanks for recent promotion), but when I contacted 4 attorney's about starting processing for naturalization, they did not say "No" outright but implied that I should wait if not until next election but till mid-terms, And I got no clue to what Should I do? I came here legally, my marriage lasted for more than 6 years before we got divorce (on very good terms, no fight over money or alimony) and just like that whole life is put in stand-by to what will happen? My same Friends told me not to do as ICE is picking up people from immigration courts, they care and their fear for my safety is what i find it supportive but sad at the same time, is that what America has come to that even legal migrants have to live or apply for their naturalization in fear? And on top of that recently Trump banned legal immigrant from Pakistan, he on record saying he will come for naturalized citizen next so what on earth someone should do?
I wanna buy a house, I wanna do things but idk if i should when I don't know that I have a future here despite done everything legally and follow every US immigration law by the dot.
Honestly, even if I could vote I might have withheld my vote due to no agreeing on both Trump/Kamala, same between Biden/Trump and Trump & Clinton. My ex-in laws were fully Republicans, in fact for them it was such a shock that I was able to came here legally under Trump, one of the reason they let their daughter marry me was they were sure that this won't work because Trump will never let a Pakistani brown man from a Moslem country to enter USA, I mean talk about living in the bubble of their own.. People who have families here who are US citizen they have genuine concern about who their families vote, and all these people adds up to the voter count, as for me I am just alone here trying to build a life haha starting from scratch.
I notice a very subtle resentment in people towards police, I respect cops for their work no doubt specially here in USA, dealing with crazy Karen's, domestic violence, mental illness, violent crimes, and worse of all those Sovereign citizen Bullshitters(God they annoy me). But Almost everyone I talk to those who are even right leaning have very suspicious view of cops, from using words like Gangs, to pigs, to pedo protectors, Nazi's, fascists, murderers and many more, its insane.
