USA Weather Alert and Warnings Thread

We have no temperature left. The thermometer reads a big fat ZERO.
I do not miss temperatures like that.

Years ago, we had friends living in Omaha. Mrs. AZ insisted we go visit them. In January! Couldn't convince her to wait until April or May or June. She wanted to go NOW!

Saturday night of that long weekend, we all went to see a movie. Left the theater, she saw the temperature on the clock at the bank next door. -12. I told her not to worry, it goes even lower than that.

That was the last time she wanted to go to Omaha in the dead of winter.

:)

LOL. Let us not even mention the windchills right now. :D

Preparing for the Nor eastern even though there is still hard packed ice in front of the house on the pavers which is refusing to break with shovel or pouring water on it. It is low priority now because I have managed to break ice on the grass beside it to create a safe way to get out of the house. Brutally cold since last Sunday's ice storm--yes, 22 this morning might not be brutal to many of you but to me it is.

Anyway, just got fire logs from a Walmart--they are selling like hot cakes. Generator ready to power the battery power banks and a small space heater in case needed. A friend said to put fuel additive if the gasoline for the generator has ethanol and so I have some SeaFoam ready.

Hopefully, no power outage. I feel like we are better prepared than last time but can't say fully prepared.

The pic below shows the generator and also two downed large trees near the house. There are many trees and branches all over the property in case I 'man up' and use a chainsaw to make firewood--maybe I will if other options run out.

also buy some small power banks for your phones perhaps ?

Going to be 4°F tomorrow morning.

Nine days without running water. This coming Monday, may be able to turn the water back on.

Nearly everyone I talked to now has frozen water lines.

man i hope the power turns ON for all ya people there. Its serious health risk and matter and you guys deserve better.
This is appalling to be so long without power. Perhaps time to move to warmer states?

This tool will break the ice up. Just be careful not to bust your pavers.

Still have power, thankfully.

Many homes in NE Oklahoma were not built for this extreme cold, water lines above ground, and in my case, inaccessible underneath.

Best thing I can do to avoid expensive repairs every winter is to just shut water off and bleed the lines.

In a few days, Monday, I hope, can turn the water back on and check for any leaks.

A bit of overkill, but looks like fun....
