Venezuela - US Conflict: News, Updates

US hasn't seized them but got to think from Chinese perspective. China had made most of the strategic investments in Venezuela considering them as long term geopolitical ally. Now with a pupet US regime taking over most of them would be useless and they would likely be looking for an exit.
I won't rush to a conclusion. All China's investment is based on the existing world order. Now, I think that under the rule of losing international law and consensus on red lines, I think our government will make adjustments. Next, I will observe all the content of our government's external meetings. What I want to say is that under the current order, we have always maintained restraint and rationality. We have always maintained neutrality and restraint in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine and the South China Sea islands and reef issues. Now that this rule has been broken by the United States, I cannot judge all the moves of the Chinese government in the future. I need to reorganize my thinking, like a whole cake in front of you for decades, you haven't moved because the other users on the table haven't picked up the knife and fork, and now the rules are broken.
I would like to say that the consequences of the United States in this matter are a very dangerous signal.

And yes Venuzeula is important it has 14 trillion of oil on reserve

When Iraq was invaded by the anglo-american coalition, later on it turned out that most of the iraqi military had long been brought off. The special forces knew they were going into a nation where the army was not going to resist their attack in any serious way.

What is next? Trump seems to have gotten the taste of blood, Iran? Cuba?

After loosing trillions the same US is still standing tall and dominating the world.
Look at AFG right now it’s nothing but a s*t hole!

Taking over a neighbouring country to extract oil and rape their coffers is beyond comprehension. All allies including the UK have made statements -
“This has NOTHING to do with us nor did we participate in this. International law must be obeyed. “
Disgraceful
UK is not an ally of the UK, its an vassal state.

Saudis will be the big losers here. Americans have successfully grabbed the world’s largest oil reserves. Saudis will no longer be needed by the Americans that much now. If I was Riyadh today I would be feeling very vulnerable and bad news for them.

If anything, the oil and gas prices will go up. Which will help US oil producers that are hurting because of low demand and lower prices. Three major producers... Russia, Iran and Venezuela are sanctioned and still prices are where they are right now...
Second US doesn't buy Saudi or gulf oil... however Venezuelan oil is now a collateral for the US... its production can be ramped up or cut off totally from global markets, including China. Creating demand for dollars, easing credit, controlling the crude prices and flow globally.
Losers will be consumers in Europe, China and rest of third world that must keep swapping their wealth for dollars.

Your idea is not entirely correct. Saudi Arabia and other OPEC countries have choices. China is the world's largest oil importer, and OPEC has already signed an agreement with China to calculate the value of goods in renminbi.

The U.S.'s tough policies do not align with international trade rules. The U.S. has increased tariffs on China and restricted farmers' soybean exports, while China has turned to purchase grain from Brazil and Argentina. OPEC member countries need to protect their own interests. First, China is a high-quality partner with a large number of oil orders. Second, the U.S. implements technology blockade policies, but China has agreed to transfer pollution-free energy facility production and technology to OPEC and invest in OPEC member countries to establish production lines, with investment amounts smaller than in Pakistan. Because OPEC member countries want absolute shares and decision-making power, the proportion of investment is high, and China respects the choices of sovereign countries. OPEC member countries need technological transformation, which aligns with their policies. Most importantly, China has desert management technology, initially for power generation, improving the environment and precipitation, and later making the areas habitable.

The Global South hasn't achieved much. There was talk about introducing a new currency to weaken the dollar. It hasn't materialised yet.

This should have been done sooner than later. Shame on all the nations that claims to be part of multi polarity, yet being selfish and looking out for their own interests and perhaps still afraid of the Orange King's wrath. They should have had the guts to call out the petro dollar's bluff, or elde STFU. Let the US compete fairly. Don't have anything against the US populace, rather admire their resoluteness. But their foreign policy sucks big time.

On a different perspective, the orange king is showing the other wannabes how to assert might is right. The flimsy crimes they accuse the imbecile Maduro is far lesser than what the US foreign policy has been practicing over last 80 odd years. 👎

Iran depends on whether the people will resist or not. No good invading iran if the common iranians sees the americans as occupiers. Then what they will end up with will be 100 times worse then what they experienced in Iraq or Afghanistan. Getting in may come easy, but getting out may be hell for them.

some nations can hate their governments, but that doesnt mean they will accept white westerners to come in and dominate them.

All of the World’s Oil Reserves by Country, in One Visualization

December 30, 2025

Countries-with-the-Largest-Oil-Reserves_Web_12302025.webp

  • Just four countries control more than half of the world’s proven oil reserves.
  • Despite the energy transition, fossil fuels still account for nearly 70% of global energy demand.
Oil remains one of the most strategically important resources in the global economy. It powers transportation systems, underpins industrial activity, and continues to shape geopolitics and trade flows. While renewable energy is growing, oil still plays a dominant role in meeting global energy needs.

This visualization ranks countries by the size of their proven oil reserves at the end of 2024. The data for this graphic comes from OPEC’s Annual Statistical Bulletin 2025. Figures represent proven oil reserves as of year-end 2024 and are measured in billions of barrels. The data includes conventional crude oil as well as oil sands.
Global oil reserves are highly concentrated.

Venezuela ranks first with an estimated 303 billion barrels of oil reserves. However, turning this vast resource base into economic and geopolitical power has proven difficult, as ongoing U.S. sanctions and the recent seizure of Venezuelan oil shipments under the Trump administration continue to limit the Maduro government’s ability to export crude and fully monetize its reserves.

Saudi Arabia follows the South American country with 267 billion barrels. Iran, Canada, and Iraq round out the top five.

Many of the world’s largest oil reserves are held by OPEC members, particularly in the Middle East. Saudi Arabia, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, and the United Arab Emirates anchor the region’s dominance.

These countries benefit from low extraction costs and large, easily accessible reserves. As a result, Middle Eastern producers are expected to remain critical suppliers even as global demand growth slows.

Canada stands out among non-OPEC countries, ranking fourth globally with 163 billion barrels of reserves. The majority of Canada’s reserves come from oil sands, which are more expensive and carbon-intensive to extract. Russia and the United States also rank among the top 10.

Taken together, the data highlights how unevenly oil resources are distributed and why oil-rich nations continue to have significant economic and geopolitical power.

Putin grew overconfident and bit off way more than Russia could chew in Ukraine. He walked into a trap and has been unable to extricate himself since. You are correct that Russians have proven useless allies to Iran, Armenia, Venezuela.
Add more allies:

India, China, Kazakhstan, etc

Syria (defeated) after 10 years

Ukraine (currently 4 years now), it will be gone within 6 years left.

Russia will always lost within 10 years, similar to Afghanistan's Soviet Union times.

Trump shares image he says shows Maduro on board Iwo Jima
BBC

Trump has just shared a new image on Truth Social that he says shows "Nicolas Maduro on board the USS Iwo Jima" - this is the boat he earlier told Fox News was bringing the Venezuelan leader to the US.

The image shows what appears to be Maduro, with an eye mask and headphones on and wearing a grey tracksuit.
