THINK TANK: CONSULTANT
Modified 70s/80s policy. Limiting proxies and doing the work themselves to prevent middlemen screwing up the transition. I suspect marines will be in Venezuela soon to secure the oil fields and set up some administrative authority from a near by city.Good point. The US was deeply involved in destabilizing Latin America in the 1970s and 1980s but had then left the region alone since then. Because of that many Latin American countries were able to starve their militaries, build democracies, invest in human capital and infra and sign trade agreements. Its not been noticed much abroad but Latin America is in much better shape than most of the Islamic world.

With this Venezuela attack the US has gone back to its 70s and 80s policy.
