No, US sanctions ruined the economy and security. Doesn't matter if the government is capitalist/islamist/democracy/communist etc, under US sanction then blockade, no country can prosper.
Agreed 100%. The sad reality is that US people decided that such a small person was fit for the highest office in the land over the absolutely abysmal crap foisted on them by the Democrats. It is going to be a long time till 2028 indeed.
No, lack of building alliances and using money to build a military didNo, US sanctions ruined the economy and security. Doesn't matter if the government is capitalist/islamist/democracy/communist etc, under US sanction then blockade, no country can prosper.
So the real problem was leadership that couldn’t read the geopolitical room or play the game properly, even with one of the world’s largest oil reserves?
"President Trump has been very clear and consistent. He is prepared to use every instrument of American power to stop drugs from flooding our country and to bring those responsible to justice. The Maduro regime is not the legitimate government of Venezuela. It is a narco-terrorism cartel," Leavitt stated.
Last month, the U.S. Department of Justice announced a $25 million reward for information leading to the arrest or conviction of Nicolás Maduro. After the announcement, the reward was doubled to $50 million. The Trump administration accuses Maduro of leading the so-called Los Soles Cartel, which Trump has classified as an international terrorist organization.
List of the largest oil reserve in the world, of the 5 largest, only 2 of them do not have American troops, Iran and Venezuela (It is the world's largest oil reserve with 303 billion barrels ) :

Trump is obsessed with oil though. I don’t know why.
Great Orange Shitstain
@hnn post on the core model and periphery in the other thread applies to an extent
Shukar hai , Pakistan doesn't have oil. Or democracy had arrived on an aircraft carrier.
Yes. 100%. Hand picked by the Trump administration. His plan appears to be for Venezuela to remain under the day-to-day rule of Nicolás Maduro’s handpicked vice-president, with its democratically elected leaders excluded and its wealth controlled by American corporations https://econ.st/495Mkxp
Absolutely. I don’t think the forum rules prevent that as long as the title and intro explains the purpose of the thread.Perhaps a thread of its own? (Is it allowed to start a thread based on a theory developed in-house?) - it's a working model as of now and I think input from other members will help refine it greatly.
I would argue that he neglected the need to become a fully militarised state and to ensure he had loyalists in said military. Venezuela needed to be a North Korea type police state to even stand a chance. The threat of "fire all missiles!" is what keeps PyongYang safe.So the real problem was leadership that couldn’t read the geopolitical room or play the game properly, even with one of the world’s largest oil reserves?
Kidnapping the legitimate leader of another nation's leader is a gangsterist or terrorist action. very different to making a war. regardless how meaningless a war can be. It is not what a nation should do. Same as what the US did to the former Panamaian president Noriega. But time has changed. 2025 is not 1989. Such careless actions will only weaken the world order created by the US and the West after 1945.Russia's decision to invade Ukraine also screams strategic desperation. Venezuela went down a similar road by nationalizing foreign assets and doubling down on policies that looked increasingly desperate both at home and abroad. If we're talking longevity, I don't see either one outlasting the US. What do you think?
yes this is the biggest problem with this , now anyone can kidnap a president and accuse him of being a drug runner / terrorist etc etcThink of the situation where some Chinese official issuing same statements regarding fallen and apprehend Taiwanese regime.
Also, I think Zelensky will now be killed by Russia ( if Russia wants to kill him).
