Vietnam's Party General Secretary and President To Lam, his spouse, and the high-ranking delegation of Vietnam departed Beijing on Thursday morning for a visit to Nanning City, continuing their state visit to China.
They travelled by high-speed train after concluding official activities in Beijing, accompanied by Chinese officials including Liu Haixing, head of the International Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee; Chen Zhou, deputy head of the same body; and Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam He Wei and his spouse.
During the journey, leaders of Chinese railway businesses briefed the Vietnamese leader on the rapid development of the local rail system. As of early 2026, China’s operational railway network has reached 165,000 km, including about 54,000 km of high-speed rail – the largest in the world, accounting for over 70% of the global total.

No. The Siemens train is for Hanoi - Ha Long line, built by Vin Group, with the length of about 140 km. And it is just advertisement by Vin Group. No contract is signed yet.Interesting. Vietnam has already contracted its main N-S HSR project to German Siemens, what is he riding on Chinese HSR twice over 2400 km long distance for ? Not just for fun for such long time, haha ?
So you say the 1500 km Hanoi-Ho Chi Minh HSR project hasn't been decided who is going to build ?No. The Siemens train is for Hanoi - Ha Long line, built by Vin Group, with the length of about 140 km. And it is just advertisement by Vin Group. No contract is signed yet.

I think it’s all about sending a message: China HSR is safe. if Vietnam communist chief rides on a train then China train is safe. He tells it to the Vietnamese and international media without saying. He makes it for Ccp. Otherwise it makes no sense for him to ride 10 hours plus on a train.Interesting. Vietnam has already contracted its main N-S HSR project to German Siemens, what is he riding on Chinese HSR twice over 2400 km long distance for ? Not just for fun for such long time, haha ?
But, what's in for Vietnam for him to spend such long time of his busy schedule ? Chinese HSR has a total length of 55000 km and has been tested and running for couple of decades, the world knows it's safe as its records in scale of 20 times of the Japanese HSR. China has built HSR in Indonesia, Thailand, Laos, Serbia and Hungary. This doesn't make sense.I think it’s all about sending a message: China HSR is safe. if Vietnam communist chief rides on a train then China train is safe.
