Vietnam participates Slovakia defense expo 2026. Maybe the most successful way to access western military technology via a small European country.

Why don't you buy weapons from South Korea ? They are in demand now and affordable when compared to American, Japanese and European ones.
You think it’s easy? There is strong anti communist stance in SK. They fear Vietnam can leak military secrets to NK.
In case you ask why we don’t buy from Japan.
Same not easy either to buy anything from the Japanese. They fear we can leak to communist China.
Please don’t ask why we don’t buy from the US.
That’s a endless loop.

They can fear all they want but we are not buying from them their due to our policy of developing our own defense industries. They could only sell 20 K-9 guns to us and we only wanted the used ones and you already know why; that's the first and last purchase ever.

Brahmos is a great missile but it won't happen for several reasons:
1. The existence of Viettel's air launched version of VCM that resembles the American SLAMM-ER. This missile is fitted with an electro optical seeker and it can be seen at Viettel Aerospace final assembly facility.
2. The existence of Viettel's air launched missile that resembles the American JASSM; this has to be our longest known air launched missile to date. It was leaked by the guy from that group and was immediately told by the Military Intelligence unit to take that down immediately. I happened to be at the right time to capture the screen shot. Lol. If this were a Vietnamese forum or facebook page, I wouldn't be able to post that photo.
3. Brahmos is a joint venture with Russia to produce the Yakhont (which we also have). Any sale is highly likely being vetoed by the Russian if they deem the sale goes against their strategic interest. Remember one thing, the Russian sell Viet Nam the Flanker but they won't sell us any air launched missile that is worth mentioning. They won't even sell us the air launched version of the Kh-35; which is a subsonic 130 km missile, let alone any air launched version of the supersonic 300 km Yakhont/Brahmos. So, in a hypothetical scenario that Viet Nam doesn't produce any air launched missiles, Brahmos sale won't go through either due to the Russian veto

Just to prove that Nikkei has become a trash news source like BBC, with too much influence by politics rather than seeking truth.

No reliable source in VN mentions Brahmos, but Indian and now Japanese and Taiwanese sources bring Brahmos to every visits by either Vietnamese or Indian high ranking officials., desperately to provoke tensions between Vietnam and China. That's why i say the Japanese society has been rotten because of liberal democracy they adopted since 1991. They have lost the shame and can lie blatantly.

Brahmos seem to be a good system, but if Vietnam wanted to buy it, it would have happened ten years ago, not now.
