They are still pretty much paranoid about China, frequently talk of war against China, they just can't free from their self imposed history. Vietnam has split personality on China.

No hard feeling, China military buildup is a concern. We don’t know what’s coming. it’s always good to be ready for scenarios. Yes, our relationship to China is best ever in history, but Xi Jinping may retire soon, a new Chinese leader can be aggressive.
And there is the US. We don’t know who will follow Trump. Another MAGA can be more aggressive.
Vietnam military buildup is a natural response.

Don't even thinks about war with China anymore, just doing bussiness, the war tech are evolving around stealth, AI, space sats, hypersonic, EW, what you have in hands are just meaningless tbh.

May I remind you it takes 2 generations from Deng Xiaoping to Xi Jinping to get where we are now?
Vietnam is a weaker party it makes no sense to initiate a war.
As for stealth and space tech, I would be cautious. Technology is evolving. you see in Ukraine how modern techs are good for dustbins.

That's rich coming from you guys. The ukraine russian war is the most up to date modern war and every new and old equipment is being thrown into the battlefields so your assertion what we have are just meaningless is also ...meaningless considering many of the stuff we field you also field such as...surveillance UAVs, armed drones, suicide drones, USV, MANPADS, Atgm, IFV, MBT, artillery, SPH, LACM, air-ship-shore-submarine launch AshCM from subsonic to supersonic speed, ballistic missiles, SAM, MLRS. Since we don't know how the future will hold for the conflict in the SCS, we have to prepare for a military conflict with you guys because at least for the American, they do not occupy our territories (Paracels and Spratly islands).

That’s interesting with laser guns. I previously thought we were still years away from practical use.

The gun that is put on display Turkey defense expo seems to be a combo laser beam and electromagnetic.
many variants exist. this one creates an electromagnetic pulse EMP up to GW range, similar to an atomic blast outside of atmosphere. No drone swarm can survive the blast.

Viettel and KEPCO E&C have signed MOU to research and develop SMR. Not sure if it will materialize in the end but I have seen Viettel put up ads recruiting for positions to develop SMR last year. I'm really impressed with the S. Korean; as early as 2000 they were on the verge of building a nuclear powered submarine using their own reactor,damn...if not for their american boss who stopped them.

That’s embarrassing. I wish the Koreans and Japanese can free themselves one day from US strangulation and blackmail. Great powers as America, China, Russia should come with great responsibility. Instead, they misuse it.
