Vietnam and the US would never truly trust each other.

Since the US knows that Vietnam only conveniently uses the US to balance China's influence in ASEAN.

However, your ruling party is deeply committed to use China's political/economic playbook to run the country like the strong competitive state-owned enterprise to back up more elite private enterprises to foster more innovation and to outcompete the western economic model.

And the Vietnamese elites are pragmatic and have similar mentality to their Chinese counterpart, just want their nation to become strong by adapting the most suitable and optimized political/economic model.
The US don’t trust communism, why should communism trust the US? In lesser it goes for Europe as well. It makes no sense. What we see now is a truce. Nothing else.

Actually we are easy to understand. Vietnam is something like that:
political neutrality
cultural, mentally very Chinese
economic: a mix of capitalism and socialism
geography: yes, we work with Asean, we try to balance China with other powers to avoid a full blow crisis.

Rumors say T2 tank will resemble T90 tank with 125mm cannon. T2 will complete further the line up of Vietnam domestic APCs, tanks and howitzers.

Not bad
very spacious
This palace resembles French architecture.
The emperor possessed 7 summer palaces excluding the royal palace and diverse houses.

Emperor? He was just a dog of the French.

North Vietnamese, in general, did not recognize the Nguyen dynasty as legitimate, which showed in their despising of taboo words by Nguyen dynasty compared with the Southern Vietnamese, who replaced Hoa by Huê, Hoàng by Huỳnh etc.

As they looked down upon the mandarins and soldiers sent by Nguyen dynasty to rule the North, they did not cooperate with mandarins and soldiers to fight against the French to protect Hanoi. That's probably why Hanoi felt so easily, although Hoang Dieu was brave.

You are too harsh to him. What else can he do? The arny surrendered, the naval fleet was gone, Vietnam was occupied, cut into 3 pieces. As for the resentment of the northerners, it’s the Nguyen who expanded the territory massively under their rule, at the peak under Minh Mang to 575,000 km2.
Otherwise Vietnam today probably is just a small piece of land bordering to China.

By going a full private economy will eventually breed the full fledged oligarch class.

Even the US citizens hate their own oligarch class.

He has no dignity, even as a normal Vietnamese. He had more than enough money to live a normal life, but he chose to be a dog.

Bao Dai, together with his family, tried everything to live a debauched life at the expense of the Vietnamese people. He sold anything to the French to continue to live his sickening lifestyle, including sex and gamble, and never had any thought about Vietnam (according to the memory of his sub-ordinates and servants).

Many kings and emperors in the world lost their power and had to live as puppets, but they still tried to live in dignity. But not Bao Dai and his father Khai Dinh

Fight with dignity to the death without navy and army? Would be probably the endgame because France threatened to kill all, erasing Vietnam from the map. I think the last Nguyen ruler just accepted the fate. As for his life style he was formal the emperor, so how it was, luxury was acceptable. And it’s not Bao Dai who signed the surrender but his predecessor in 1862, long before he came to power.
