Vietnam surpasses Indonesia on per-person GDP- Is Thailand next?

When many of your best talents run away to Western countries (Abrahamaic follower) and trying to get citizenship there than building their own Hindu majority nations then it should be seen as warning rather than some sort of achievements
Brain drain is an economic and policy challenge, not a rejection of Hindu civilisation. People migrate for better opportunities, research facilities and living standards, not because they reject their cultural identity.

India also has the third-highest number of billionaires in the world, after US and China, with 391 dollar billionaires. They built their fortunes in India. Producing globally competitive talent is an achievement; creating conditions to retain more of that talent is a separate challenge. Don't confuse the two.

I am simply pointing out that Hindu civilisation has evolved continuously over thousands of years. Our saints, kings and scholars refined its traditions through intellectual debates, disagreements and reinterpretation of scriptures.
Teaching people to drink cow urine and eat cow dung?
Teaching people to defecate in public places?
Teaching people to drink the filthy water of the Ganges?
...
I have no desire to keep listing your sordid practices.
As for this kind of "religion of wisdom"—please, keep it in India!!!

I am not advocating any religious ideology. I am simply pointing out that Hindu civilisation has evolved continuously over thousands of years. Our saints, kings and scholars refined its traditions through intellectual debates, disagreements and reinterpretation of scriptures.

Rather than remaining frozen in the past, our society evolved with changing times. Even today, Hindu cultural values and collective beliefs influence Indian society, including its trade, tourism and policies. This civilisational continuity gives us a distinct cultural identity and the freedom to develop independent perspectives rather than remain bound by rigid religious doctrines.
Every thread you venture on - you bring religion into it. You launch a new ID every other week and then decide to be a twat again. Why do you waste your life like this? You aint shining India or Hinduism by being a twat on here? King Vahram, Osho, Big Boy, Tathastu, and lets not forget Jungle Book......

if Singapore was not split up with Malaysia then the rich oil sheiks of Singapore today would have the same GDP per capita with Malaysia.

Well, if Singapore and Malaysia were the same country, based on today's stats it would have a combined population of 40mil.

GDP PPP per capita would be around $67K, similar level with EU/UK.
GDP nominal per capita would be around $30K, similar level with Japan.

Pretty decent I would say.

I love these threads. Chinese love to talk both ways with each other!

Sinosphere, indosphere..

Irony is that Malaysia is richer than even china.
Are you kidding? Malaysia is NOT richer than China.

Their GDP per capita is roughly the same but the top provinces in China are far ahead of Malaysia in every way.

In addition, the only reason why Malaysia's gdp is that high is because of the Chinese Malaysians who dominate 80% of their economy. If the Chinese Malaysians were only 5% instead of 25% of their population, Malaysia would probably be on the same tier as Indonesia.

I've been to both Malaysia and China and China is far ahead in every measure. China is actually way more advanced than any other country under $30,000 GDP per capita because China's GDP is being actively suppressed by their own govt who purposefully keeps the exchange rate low in order to keep Chinese goods extremely cheap and competitive to maintain dominance over entire industries globally.

To become rich and developed you must either have from heaven given natural resources like the Russians or be industrious like the Vietnamese, Chinese, Japanese, Koreans, or most of Europeans. Philippines have none of these. The culture is much of US influence, neither China nor India. Philippines is an exception in ASEAN.
Every Spanish colonial society is either mid or a failed state. Spanish colonies were basically built on a rent seeking model where the elites are basically parasites living off of the oppressed masses who are unable to move up the ladder due to a strict heirarchical system that favored native Spaniards.

Every former Spanish colony is corrupt, mismanaged with poor social order.

Having billionaires isn't something to brag about especially for a poor society like India. It just means you have deep inequality.

$30k nominal per capita for a 40m country is excellent, I don't know what he's thinking. Beyond good living standards, that's a much bigger consumption market, a stronger manufacturing base, and much broader industrial diversification.

Singapore GDP per capita would be $15k or less under Malay rule. In KL there is large area only Chinese. Almost all trade activities are carried out by them.

I am talking about the overall level of development, not GDP per capita, whether nominal or PPP. Those include solid base of industries, good infrastructure and the most important overall, quality of education.
Those IQ tests and country rankings are fundamentally dubious. I am not saying the research methods or data collection are academically wrong in themselves, but what they claim to represent is hugely misleading. Even within the same country, people from different backgrounds have vastly different mindsets and different levels of commitment to life and education. You have no way of knowing which Vietnamese actually took those tests and what kind of background they came from.
Germany is not a model. A people with average IQ equal to North Vietnamese at best (according to a research published by a Germany university in early 2000s, German average IQ is slightly lower than average IQ of Vietnamese living in Germany), who are obsessive with jungle freedom, combined with a not-so-clever government (which cannot change for the better, because majority of Germany would not want it to change). Not much future ahead. Its GDP per capita is high just because euro is valued too high, that can change overnight.

I mean Vietnam is poor in comparison with the likes of China, Russia, South Korea, Poland, Czech., Belarus.. not with the likes of Brazil, Argentina, Greek, Portugal or Mexico.
Can you clarify what do you mean with Germany is not a model? Do you mean that academically or politically? If you mean academically, the number of Vietnamese students going to German universities has tripled in the last ten years and German universities are consistently ranked among the best in the world. If you mean politically, since when do political ideals determine where someone decides to study abroad? If they did, the majority of Vietnamese would be heading straight to Cuba, Venezuela and Russia instead of those so-called "democrazy" countries. Just because they do not say anything, or even if they do, it does not mean they share the political views you think they do. Of course, you will always have cases like Ngo Bao Chau. I still vividly remember the early 2010s when Vietnamese netizens completely melted down and flooded his social media after he openly criticized the authoritarian regime.

And even if we assume that IQ test actually measures what you think it does, having a high IQ does not mean much by itself. You might need a high IQ to become a great researcher or scientist, but having a high IQ does not guarantee that you will become one. The two are correlated but the relationship is not linear. Vietnam does have a culture of producing gold medalists at the international science olympiads, but so far a lot of those people have not contributed substantially to the country's own scientific and technological base.

If I remember correctly, those Vietnamese at Google DeepMind above only ever managed silver at the science olympiads. Yet what they can bring back to Vietnam far outweighs what the guy below will ever do. We already have tons of people on that path, that is not what we are short of.
