The problem with IAF is that they want every platform to be the best of the best. They could have easily kept SU-57 but left the project when the platform was ready. I agree okay it may not be same capability and quality as J-35 or F-35. But still it is better then all the other platforms indian airforce have and all of the platforms PAF operates. Even with Tejas, they will not induct it despite many modifications by HAL.

The problem is not with Modi, the problem is unrealistic approach by IAF.

India shouldn't try to match China man-for-man or weapon-for-weapon. The more practical approach is to build credible deterrence while focusing resources where they provide the greatest strategic value.

China already has significant challenges to deal with, including competition with the US-led Western alliance, while currently maintaining a relatively good relationship with Russia. What the future holds is uncertain. At the same time, China's economy gives it considerably more room to spend on defence than India has, so trying to match its defence expenditure would be financially unsustainable for India.

Yes, India needs 5th-generation fighters, but initially in limited numbers until we can develop and manufacture our own 5th-generation aircraft. Even if indigenous 5th-generation fighters take until after 2035 to become available in meaningful numbers, India should focus on producing them in larger quantities once the programme matures. At the same time, discussions about joining or participating in a 6th-generation fighter programme should continue so that India doesn't fall further behind technologically.

Ultimately, peace along the India-China border depends partly on both sides understanding the catastrophic consequences of a full-scale war. As long as both countries understand that escalation could threaten their strategic assets and even their capitals, the cost of war remains an extremely powerful deterrent. Agni-4 and Agni-5 nuclear missiles are built for the same purpose

That doesn't mean India should neglect the Air Force, Navy or Army. We need continuous improvements and a minimum credible level of deterrence

But trying to match China's overall military power as an objective in itself is unrealistic and could become a huge waste of India's limited resources. India should instead build a strong, technologically capable and sustainable military focused on its own strategic requirements.

If Modi indeed had a spine, he would have opted for peace and better relations with both Pakistan and China as opposed to taking the easier way of fueling warmongering and hate of Islam and Muslims for votes.

The money saved on Military by all countries could have been well spend on trade & commerce which would have benefited the local population immensely.
