Might be the reason for their poor memory. They still haven't apologized for what they did to the Chinese people in WW2 or in any part of Asia.

Before we discuss Japan , it is important to note
1- They have not been Colonized , they don't have slave mentality
2- Since Mid 1800 , their Leaders aligned themselves with Westerners
and they negotiated terms to be seen as "Equal" in all treaties
3- This Term of "Equal" status is something that has been part of their
psychology , for almost 200 years
They have played the global Order game , to have "Status" in world
4-Japan had enjoyed closer ties with Germany so many German elements appear in their Anime shows , you often see Blonde characters
from Europe often to be from Germany or France.
5- After world war ended they quickly focused on retaining their "Status"
by focusing on Industrialization, and they were able to construct
large Navy and Air-force in past
6- They mimicked, western style sports
> Adoption and popularity of Baseball is one such example
7- Influence of Western Music and culture on Society
Why are they not friendly to None Whites ?
The stories of "Irregular Crime" , or auto theft , or hustling for money , hook or crook mentality is not something Japanese people are used to
So many conservative Japanese favor less immigrants

- We can't generalize , as they are generally quite friendly. But they also have hardliners who view themselves base on their status in society
- There are Japanese Elite and there are every day ground level people
- However Japanese are conservative , they have a certain life style, the immigrant population generally does not fit with the cultural norms , because they teach these norms since age of 5 to their children
- They like to define their society with Rules , and sense of responsibility , sometimes an immigrant has no knowledge of these rules or sense of responsibility , so it creates tension

It’s not just that. South Koreans maybe more xenophobic, and more Christian (feeling more affinity for Christian majority countries) , so you would assume they would be even more obsessed, it you don’t see as much of these comments coming out of Korea.
I suspect the Japanese economic stagnation, for nearly 40 years now, has had many trapping themselves in nostalgia, at which time Japan looked out into the world and really only noticed Europe and the US as the developed, “cultured” nations, as many of them would view it.
Outside of those that do business in the developing world, japan has become more insular in these past 35 years. One Japanese YouTuber posted out that Japanese people are speaking less and less English, fewer are going abroad to learn at foreign universities, and most Japanese feel comfortable just staying in Japan, where everything is just the way they like it.
Someone did an analysis of the Japanese society and their anime. The anime is what they wished the world was like, while many Japanese live in a world where their standard of living has stagnated, and are resentful that the country has to welcome more and more tourists in general, to keep the economy going. Couple this with the bad tourists that really irritate Japanese people, and give a bad name to all visitors from similar backgrounds.
Japan is a preview of the demographically declining and economically stagnating countries. Japan is not going to remain unique in this way, it just got there first.
If many tourist like Japanese culture, but it is known they will face discrimination going there, it is a business opportunity for business in each country to create mini-Japan like parts of their cities and Cather to this demand for the high points of Japanese culture; food, anime, architecture, gardens, etc.

- Sinat Seiya , has usage of terms of Saints etc but show is also about concept about Greek Myth, but popular in Christian country. Japanse view the show as just "Cool" Super hero show
- Evengelion show has a twisted concept of Adam and Eve or Angels . The terminology used is for Christianity but in reality it has nothing to do with Abrahamic/Ibrahimic religion

People think just because Japan exports them car , or Motor cycle or any other good that local Japanese person actually heard about their country or society , they don't
Look at Pakistan, just because we see Yamaha motor cycle engine every one thinks Japan knows about Pakistan and Culture but they don't. They simply have no idea who you are
Average Japanese is at work 15-16 hours in office so it leaves them very little time to learn more about world. Their lives circle around work 24/7
Often people viewing their Anime/TV shows think Japan is welcoming society but they are work oriented people like any good working nation
Students study in school plus 2nd school , because if they flunk they will never have happy lives so they also spend 15-16 hours daily studying stuff that matter in life, most are broke in school so they work part time jobs

People keep forgetting that it's not just about race. Class matters too, and it hits even harder if you're from a developing country. And if you're dark-skinned and from a "third-world" country, yeah, that's basically the worst possible combo when you're going to places like Japan or Korea.
