Aryan is a cultural term created by the settlers in the NW of South Asia to describe themselves. Dravidians, Onge, and other native groups had nothing to do with it. As the settlers spread, so did their culture and ID to the point that there are Dravidians today who genuinely believe they are the spitting image of ancient Vedic Aryans because they copypasted their culture and religion.

At the end of the day, regardless of how much they try to copy the culture, they lack the DNA and pedigree of the original Aryans. Most Indians do not have original Aryan DNA, they have the DNA of native converts, which makes it even more ironic that they have adopted an ideology as xenophobic and bigoted as Sanatan.

They were called mleccha centuries after the originals expanded and spread eastwards. The reasoning was that the Indo Aryan people of Gandhara had abandoned the rituals. Now imagine, if Indo-Aryan people who stopped following rituals became mleccha to Gangetic Sanatanis, what would they have to say about non-Indo Aryan natives in South Asia practicing religions and forms of worship which predated Sanatan and were alien to them? The people who considered themselves Aryan back then certainly didn't ascribe to the "ewerything is Hinduism saar" and "if you vorship nature and random thingj, you are Hindu" ideology which defines neo-Hinduism today.

Hindus still are polytheists and worship fire, sun , water and other elements in their every ritual.
so called aryans of Pakistan and Iran who converted into monotheism cults would be treated as barbarian mlechhas worse than current Hindus who would be considered as brothers who deviated from path but not lost yet.
