The most sensible clear reason why India is choosing to invest over 40/50 billion dollars on the french
Not the USA or Russians

Safren
Safren
Safren

This is a fifth generation crystal blade engine that is being developed for India but France to power Future Rafales future Tejas mark 2 and Amca fighters

This is long term strategic deal
With the right partner imo

I couldn't care less what the Indians might claim.

The only reason is, the French offer massive kickbacks and others don't.

For the French, using corruption to fuel military sales is a fine art. And the Indians have always been corrupt to the core anyway.

The question should be why Rafale and not Tejas?

You getting off topic

The article very clear and concise is laying out how this decision to go with Rafale even at exorbitant cost was made

Firstly India has or will have 62 Rafales in service by 2028/2029 after the navy get their 26 planes
So training logistics interoperability is already there so Integration of new Rafales is quick super quick

Second France is has tied up with Indian companies Tata India to license build 24 Rafales to help with huge global demand they can't cope in just France on annual basis

Third France is developing the Safran engine with India

Fourth Rafale has new upgraded super Rafales under development and gets unmanned drones hpersonics weapons in five years time

Fifth transfer of technology and acceptance of Indian weapons

Sixth France is trusted reliable partner even in war unlike USA

Sixth the Su57 cannot be
Be mass producef and the future upgrades Russia is promising demands time and Indian investment upfront

Eigth India is to become maintenance global hub of Rafale service and overhaul...This 40billion deal is way more than just fighter purchase it's strategic military industrial tie up merger between India and France

Rafale just ticks all
Boxes

The question should be why Rafale and not Tejas?

Tejas is single engined short legged point defense fighter with limited CAS

They will operate in wolfpacks IE four and six planes
Three sorties s day
Cheap to fly high operational availability

Rafale is the long range deep strike hi end fight over the enemy air space in high network environments offering range and payload and technology

Both will complement each other
See below

Exciting plans

Numbers wise

150-175 Rafales
250 su30/Mki and super Mki
250 Tejas fighters both mark 1 and 2

By 2035

Just before Amca arrives

This is from September Quwa actually understands what the Indian air force is building towards
Better than any one on this forum.

They remove hyperbole and bias and discuss the most likely reasoning

Fair assessment good people imo.

France is building the engine, what's India going to do?

This is deal explanation about the project

Let's start with 7 billion dollars is what India about to do

India singly handily is making the french the richest military industrial
Complex in the world apart from USA and china

We are taking 60 billion dollars my friend....
That's cost of buying 175 Rafales
Maintenance hubs workshops
Assembly plants
Engine development

This long long strategic partnership probably leading to India choosing the Fcas sixth generation fighter in post 2040 over Gcap

Yeah we know

India bullshitted it's way into a corner
Then got humiliated in a conflict with it's neighbour

Then understood it had no path to counter their enemies airforce

So are now paying through the nose to the french to bail them out...

The french will indeed bail you out, but it will be a high cost and considering you could have done this at least two decades ago, you only have yourselves to blame
