Will Sheikh Hasina’s Planned Homecoming Revive the Awami League?

"Pariborton" takes 10 years. But in most cases governments lose their majority after 5 years because the attention span of general public has reduced since the advent of social media.

Point being let there be a BNP govt for 10 years for there to be a change.
BNP hasn’t made it to that long in their 50 years history.

They had a clean run in the late 70s and entire 80s.

And got hilariously sidelined by Gen Ershad.

I don’t expect BNP to last more than 5 years.

BNP usually run out of steam after three years.

This whole saga and how the people of BD respond to this move will be determining the actual path of future Bangladesh
The indians are losing support of all their neighbours and nobody is putting up withindian shenanigans now after May 2025.
Last desperate attempts by india will be in vain as BD chooses its rightful path amongst other nations of the region. Its about time.

@Al-Zakir

Zakir mian,

there will not be any room for Bengali Hindu nationalist politics in Bd sponsored by your country.

I have no dispute on that contection. So why don't you guys allow BAL to fight the elections next time- BD citizens will reject a Bengali Hindu nationalist party on their own without the need of a ban.

What do you say, Kola bhai?

Regards

@BananaRepublic

They ran way from battlefield, tails between their legs. No body told them to leave.

Your comrade here claim BAL is the majority political force and BNP/Jamatis are nothing.

So, what is the fear? Mobilize your people and come to Bd and claim your spot

We are waiting eagerly to welcome them with,

If Hasina indeed returns to Bangladesh this year then will be shocking: The recent events in BD are too recent for her return. I doubt she is going to return and if she does return this year/near future then likely be under house arrest, at least, or worse!

So why ban BAL anyway?

@Meengla sb

If Hasina indeed returns to Bangladesh this year then will be shocking:

It really depends on what the Deep State has to say

If she does return this year/near future then likely be under house arrest, at least, or worse!

I guess you have BB in mind- well BD is not Pakistan, and this is not 2007. The Deep State won't give BD the same latitude that it gives PAK.

Regards

Yes, I was thinking about Benazir Bhutto's return in mid 1980s to Pakistan and also of the Aquino lady's return to the Phillippines about the same time but in both cases there were guarantees in place; in case of BB, even General Zia's Martial Law would not touch her. In case of Hasina, the events are too recent, there seems like too much anger against her for her to return this year or soon: She would be extremely foolish to do so!
