As you are so experienced , my sister is currently in taiwan doing her phd and we are hearing a news that china is waiting for the elections to be concluded in taiwan and there is a high probablity that they will strike taiwan if results dont go their way it is all over the western news.
I have told my sister about this and she told me that there is no such news among locals.
But i am worried as i dont want her to get in a trouble like what indians had to face in the start of war in ukraine.
HEr phd will be completed in 8 months what should we do??
Is the threat real, any suggestiin you want to share?

There is a race going on, between the severe strokes of bad fortune that have hit the Chinese supreme leader (I had written something else and then substituted this), and the iron grip that he has on the state. If the dissatisfaction of his people goes below a certain point, he will lose his position. If he wishes to attack Taiwan, he will have to do that before his acceptability with his own people goes below that level. A lot of speculation is going around about the possibilities of invasion, and about the timing, and the fact is, nobody outside the Chinese politburo, if even they, knows.

If the Taiwanese elections don't go their way, their anxiety will rise, but so will the confidence of the western powers that they are doing the right thing backing taiwan.
If your sister can avoid being in Taiwan around the time the elections end, for a month or two, that would probably be wise.

Better safe than sorry.

Of course not trolling. Strategically on ground hostlities have been diminishing in Modi's second term. Besides the Pak 'establishment' seems to have little patience with people want to do something about 'Indian hegemonism'. Co-ordinated, consistent opposition is lacking. I think Imran Khan, for all his popularity, is not coming back. The rest seem to lack enthusiasm for an anti-india stand.

Pretty sure that next time we stand for Non- permanent UNSC seat, pak will support us (as always) . And permanent UNSC seat, will abstain from voting against.

Our only problematic opposition is China. They too seem to be mellowing down a bit.

Precisely so.
They take every inch they get, and have no compunction in keeping up pressure even where they are not strong. The reality is rather startlingly difficult.
