Look up Dzungaria and the Qing emperor, the Qian Long Emperor. You can coordinate these to the happenings in Tibet around the same time, the decline of Yuan power, the sketchy relationship between Ming and Tibet, and the re-entry into Tibet by the Qing.

There are some detailed stories and very insightful perceptions including Dzungaria and Qing, I enjoy watching very much for years, but you have to know Chinese to understand them. there are many things in the world which can not be properly translated into another language

Hopefully not by foreigners, can you read old Chinese, I don't mean tradtional Chinese words but old style writings which all Chinese struggle to learn from the Kingdergarten all the way to college but still 90% of the population still fail to understand them.

But there are those who talked of BOOMING BIG GUNS
.As if that will terrorised Chinese.

Who can fight and win against bigger guns such as 16 inch guns on battleships with their single shot bolt action rifles, and without Firedragons and twinned taile Scorpions then.

Those kind of people needed education that perhaps might save them more than pulling of ears.
