Guys remember this is the World Bank. It makes complete sense for them to see us as part of Middle East since their dealings with us inevitably involve external Middle Eastern stakeholders (, largest trade partners , as guarantors, rolling over debts etc). Now with the Pak-Saudi agreement finalized this economic relationship will only deepen.

South Asia meanwhile economically is dominated by India, a country with whom we barely have any financial relations.

We also trade more with Saudi, Afghanistan (also in Middle East category) and UAE than any South Asian country. Let's not make this a bigger discussion about identity, history and politics. This is simply a financial institution aligning one of its customers to a category where it does most of its business.

This is ridiculous. Pakistanis are historically, genetically, culturally a part of the subcontinent, otherwise known as South Asia.

Genetically and culturally? Do you EVEN know what you are talking about? So are Pakistani Punjabis, Pushtun and Baloch who collectively make up over 90% of Pakistan's population, culturally and genetically related to over 98% of indians who are non-Punjabis? Even the 2% of indians who are Punjabi, only a small minority of them may have some genetic or racial links to Pakistan.

We NEVER were "south asian" in the truest sense of the term. "south asia" is a british colonial construct that was used to push different races of brown people together into 1 disparate group in order to rule over them.

A Pakistani is not racially or genetically Middle Eastern nor are we south asian either. We have our own unique race, culture and heritage that is indigenous to the land and region tha makes up Pakistan.

Oh boy. The time I have spent with the Civ series as a youngster. I have the newer one, but the lack of patience and time that comes with age does not permit me to play it as often as I would like to. That said, it did not distort my faculties.
