The name Sikander does come from Alexander. Kandahar's original name was Alexandria, one of the many Alexandrias founded by Alexander across his new empire. The borders shown in that picture
are the extent of what Alexander's armies conquered in India. He had wanted to push on towards China but his soldiers, who had been away from their homes for 20 years, finally rebelled and refused to go.

So yeah I guess if Pakistan embraces its distant past it could make a claim to European linkages lol.

Even though this issue is an administrative change for a supranational body, it raises the question of Pakistan's broader historical roots.

I have always maintained that Pakistan's national narrative was created within chaos and was never allowed to settle and deepen its roots.

So the religious two nation theory was the easiest one to grab and run with, and then took different meanings relative to what else was happening in the world.

However as you allude to above, different parts of the sub continent clearly had vastly different historical experience.

There is sufficient evidence to support the notion that our two tribes have always been cultural rivals of one a other (despite a degree of genetic similarities/overlap). The concept of "akhand bharat" and the overarching hindutva narrative that supports this are pure fantasy.

Yes great point, Indians themselves maintain their cultural practices are ancient

Therefore the rejection of these same cultural practices also has to have long standing roots.

The point about Pakistan's brief historical links to the European Union demonstrate the racial aspect of difference.

Not only this, Centuries before the Eastern Roman Empire existed, Alexander the Great reached the Indus River (326 BCE). This led to the establishment of the Indo-Greek Kingdom, which introduced Greek (Hellenistic) culture and genetic admixture to the Punjab and Gandhara regions. This kingdom ruled Pakistan and other surrounding areas 200 BC to 10 AD.

Again Pakistanis are NOT INDIANS !! Anyone who says Pakisitanis are indians is an imbellicle and an enemy of Pakistan people.

So you understand Arabic? I'm sorry but yes you are more related to that man in Telangana then you will ever be to an Arab.

Read my other post. As I said, we belong to our own distinct cultural region that includes Afghanistan and Kashmir, with both territorial and ethnic ties connecting us. I’d even argue that there are Tajik and Iranian communities that settled in what is now Pakistan, and in many ways we share deeper linguistic, cultural, and even genetic connections with them built over centuries than with Indians outside East Punjab or with Arabs. Just as there is an Arab League and a Turkic world, I see us as part of a broader Persian sphere.
