A promising export deal has been revealed: the MARLIN unmanned surface vehicle (USV), developed through cooperation with Sefine Shipbuilding and Aselsan, could soon join the fleet of the Royal Saudi Navy.
During the event, Naval News took a closer look at a scale model of the USV displayed by the Naval Construction and Maintenance Support (NCMS) team. Various payload options appeared. It is worth noting that it was revealed for the first time that two Kuzgun anti-ship missile launchers were added to the rear side of the ship.
In a conversation with Naval News, an NCMS representative said that negotiations between the interested parties are ongoing, awaiting final requirements from the Royal Saudi Navy.
The official also indicated that the USV may undergo some modifications tailored to meet the specific needs of the Royal Saudi Navy, suggesting a possible name change from MARLIN.
This collaboration was highlighted in the official publication of the World Defense Expo, which announced the upcoming sea trials of the MARLIN USV.
