Yemen Civil War News and Discussion.. an evolving situation

A later statement from the STC said they had lost contact with the delegation that travelled to Riyadh for talks, and demanded Saudi authorities “guarantee the safety of its delegation currently in Riyadh”.

STC spokesman Anwar Al-Tamimi told AFP that contact had been lost with the delegation that travelled to Riyadh during the night.

In a statement, the Presidential Leadership Council, which holds executive power and groups rival factions, announced Alzubidi’s removal, accusing him of high treason.

“It has been established that [Alzubidi] has abused the just cause of the South and exploited it to commit grave crimes against civilians in the southern governorates,” it said.

More than 100 people have been killed in the airstrikes by the Saudi-led coalition on the newly seized separatist positions in the southern governorates.

• Saudi-backed govt accuses separatists of cutting off Aden

ISTANBUL/ADEN/DUBAI: Turkiye is ready to help dialogue between Yemen’s factions, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan told the Saudi crown prince in a phone call on Sunday, his office said.

A recent internal conflict in Yemen involves the Saudi-backed internationally recognised government and the separatist Southern Transitional Council (STC).

Erdogan told Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman during the phone call that Turkiye “is ready to contribute to efforts aimed at bringing parties together”, according to his office.

Ankara is closely monitoring developments in both Yemen and Somalia, Erdogan said, adding that the preservation of the territorial integrity of the two countries was vital for regional stability.

The phone call comes a day after Saudi Arabia’s foreign ministry called for Yemen’s southern factions to attend a “dialogue” in Riyadh.

Pakistan on Wednesday expressed “complete solidarity” with Saudi Arabia amid a resurgence of violence in Yemen, according to a statement from the Foreign Office (FO).

“Pakistan expresses complete solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and reaffirms its commitment to the security of the Kingdom,” said a statement by the FO.

Islamabad also reiterated its support for the “unity and territorial integrity” of Yemen, along with all efforts to establish “lasting peace and stability” in the country.

“In this regard, Pakistan strongly opposes unilateral steps by any Yemeni party that may further escalate the situation, undermine peace efforts, and threaten the peace and stability of Yemen as well as that of the region,” the statement read, adding that Islamabad welcomes regional efforts for de-escalating the situation.

“Pakistan maintains its firm support for the resolution of [the] Yemen issue through dialogue and diplomacy and hopes that Yemen’s people and regional powers work together towards [an] inclusive and enduring settlement of the issue, safeguarding regional stability.”

Has to be one of the most impressive operations in recent memory by KSA and the Yemeni government and allies on the ground. To regain such a huge amount of territory in such a complex geography, in such a complex country like Yemen, where tribal and clan loyalties and loyalties as a whole can quickly shift, and in a fashion where very few civilians died or much infrastructure was destroyed, is damn impressive. Next door or not.

Bounds well for future operations elsewhere.

Also for once, we were more proactive and less risk averse. I don't want KSA to act like the cop of the Arab world or anything like this but in terms of red lines when it comes to our national security, such swift action is admirable and something that we should demand as citizens.

Abu Dhabi/Zionists must really have pissed off the government. I wrote about this 1 month ago, that things would change dramatically after the Abu Dhabi stunt in Yemen and that they would come to regret it. 10 years of involvement in Yemen gone overnight (literally within a few days - after they were proclaiming their victory and full control of Yemen 1 week ago). Not saying that KSA will do this alone or that it will be as swift as in Yemen but I know who I would bet, would come out on top of this whole thing.

Important for those unaware: Most of the territory pro-Saudi forces just captured is open, barren and uninhabited desert. The total territory outside the red area controlled by Ansar forces account for only roughly 15-20% of the total population.

Utter nonsense. You are posting tweets of one of the most cringe and clueless Twitter users out there. An ethnic Dane who is based in Denmark (not sure how he has not been reported or investigated for openly supporting a terrorist cult like the Houthis) , not even a Muslim or an Arab or an Yemeni, some self-confessed commie, roleplaying as a Houhti cult cheerleader, not to mention utterly obsessed about KSA.

Houthis barely "control" (rather illegally occupy) 50% of the population of 45 million Yemenis, reducing this part of Yemen, into a total economic and social mess.

You are the same KSA/Arab obsessed user, who embarrassed himself (somehow you deleted your posts in this very thread) 4-5 days ago by hilariously claiming, that KSA no longer plays any role in Yemen. That prediction went really well, I must say.

Now reduced to posting nonsense X tweets (lies) from a serial imposter and troll. Well done. And the Yemeni government/KSA literally controls half of the mountainous areas of Yemen, 90% of the coastline, all the richest (in terms of natural reserves) areas of Yemen.

What is "barren" is the Houthi-controlled part of Yemen which is overpopulated mountainous areas of no real significance economically or strategically or location wise.

Currently their biggest export is khat. This illegal occupying anti-Yemeni cult is not going to last forever but the Yemeni government and the concept of a Yemeni state will remain as will the people.

Once the Mullah regime has ended, they will have no patrons and will suffer the same faith as the STC.

Meanwhile everything I wrote in this very thread 1 month ago has literally occurred.

Lmao. I just showed him the evidence few days ago that it is indeed 45-55% the population split.

Plus they are on borrowed time these in red.

All the gas and petroleum, plus the ocean and islands is NOT held by the Houthis. Their ports get shipments with the permission of their foes.

Correct. 5 of the 9 largest Yemeni cities are controlled by the Yemeni government and KSA.

Around 85% of the landmass. 90% of the coastline. 90% of Yemen's natural resources and most strategic areas. 95% of all the Yemeni islands.

There is marginal popular support for Houthis in the illegally occupied part of Yemen. They are only ruling through fear and force. Academics and intellectuals persecuted and killed regularly. Entire tribes and clans forced to play along. A starving and suffering local population. It is a joke of a state of affairs. Nor will it last, it is all temporary.

This 30 year old cult has no ownership of North Yemen nor any affinity with the historical prior Zaydi states and entities. Prior to their illegal rebellions against Yemen, they were some obscure clan in Sa'dah (next door to KSA) that nobody knew. Now they have claimed Sadah (direct lineage from Prophet Muhammad (saws) to use that as a political power play to fool the uninformed and ignorant locals. We see this behavior within a certain sect of Islam again and again. Suddenly obscure individuals of Indian origin or whatever origin turn into long lost Hejazis. This prodigy is numerous across much of the world and well documented but not to this extend and not with the same troublemakers appearing out of nowhere with no previous records of lineage or well-established lineage or community status within their local community. In other words those are frauds using fake/false ancestry to gain political power.

Just like that Aga Khan cultist of obscure origins who does the same thing. Claims Sadah ancestry through Ismaili Fatimids.

The only support they have in the West are from commies, anti-imperialists (while all of them are sitting in the same West doing nothing to change status quo in the West - have no clue about Yemen or the suffering of the Yemenis occupied by the Houthi cult). It is all a joke.

The only reason why KSA has not razed this part of Yemen to the ground and killed most Houthis is due to North Yemenis being fellow Arabs next door with a big affinity with KSA and our entire South in particular which is home to 5-10 million Saudi Arabians. Outsiders not familiar with the region saw this as weakness but they have no clue. A few days of RSAF bombardments is all it takes to turn Sana'a into Gaza if that was the goal.

For the same reason that the Saudi Arabian army was reluctant to engage. The last resort is always to fight against fellow Arabs. This can be counted on a few hands in the modern era. Iraq when Saddam illegally invaded Kuwait for no reason and caused 35 years of suffering in Iraq, which today could have been one of the most powerful Muslim nations. Not only that, it would be another Afghanistan. Never ending hide and seek. As I said it would require taking the glove off and that is something that has no popular support within KSA or the army. We are not interested in that. This can only happen if we are attacked for no reason and that too only proportionally or in self-defense. Look at past conflicts in Najran and Asir from 100 years ago or other border conflicts in the past 100 years. The same thing was seen. Even if against non-Arabs or non-Muslims we cannot be aggressors for no reason, this is against Islam and Arab culture and civilization.

BTW: Having said all this, people can change and do change, and Houthis can reform in the future, new leadership emerge and I would not even rule out that we could ally with them and that they could come to an agreement with the Yemeni state and KSA. For instance against the Zionists and their regional plots. After all we have had 5 years of peace now and as I wrote there is no historical or present animosity between North Yemenis and Saudi Arabians (regular people). My problem is with the leadership, not even the average foot soldier who knows nothing better and who (if hostile) is that due to brainwashing.

Saudi-led coalition says UAE helped smuggle separatist leader out of Yemen

Police patrol Aden, from where the Saudi-led coalition said Aidarous al-Zubaidi had fled by boat

The Saudi-led coalition in Yemen has alleged the United Arab Emirates helped smuggle a separatist leader out of the country after he was expelled from Yemen's presidential council and accused of treason.

A coalition spokesman said Aidarous al-Zubaidi, head of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC), fled Aden on Tuesday night in a boat to Somaliland. He was then flown by a cargo aircraft to Abu Dhabi via Mogadishu under the supervision of UAE officers, he added.

There was no immediate comment from the UAE or STC.

The STC insisted Zubaidi was still working from Aden on Wednesday, after the coalition said he had failed to fly to Riyadh for talks and had fled to an unknown location.
The coalition also accused Zubaidi of moving STC forces from bases in Aden to his home province of al-Dahle and said it had carried out air strikes on them in response.

The STC said the strikes, which reportedly killed four people, were "unjustified" and "inconsistent" with calls for dialogue with Yemen's internationally recognised government, which is overseen by the presidential council and backed by Saudi Arabia.

STC-aligned forces have in recent years taken control of much of southern Yemen, which they want once again to be an independent state, by pushing out forces loyal to the government.

However, Saudi Arabia warned last week that the advances near the kingdom's borders constituted threats to its national security as well as the security and stability of Yemen.

It also accused the UAE of "pressuring" its separatist allies to push into eastern Yemen and expressed support for a demand from the presidential council for all Emirati forces to leave.

At the same time, the Saudi-led coalition - which was formed in 2015 by Arab states, including the UAE, after Houthi rebels seized control of north-western Yemen - struck what it said was a shipment of weapons and military vehicles for the STC that had arrived from the UAE.

The UAE expressed "deep regret" at the Saudi accusations and denied there were any weapons, but agreed to pull its remaining forces out of the country.

Since then, forces loyal to the government have retaken control of Hadramawt and al-Mahra with the help of coalition air strikes.

Witnesses and government officials told Reuters news agency on Thursday that Aden was also now coming under the control of Saudi-backed forces.
