Ya no. Their air pilots are decent, airforce not too bad.Support as in how?
- material support?
- boots on the ground?
The Saudis are well equipped and have been well trained not just by the US but by PAF as well. They are more than capable IMO in dealing with the Houthis.
Army is trash, and thats by design. It's purposely kept incoherent, disjointed at a systemic and architectural level so they remain less cohesive and not pose any real threat to the ruling family. Not to mention nepotism within the higher ranks.
There also seemed to be a serious lack of motivation and will to fight for the average groud soldier previously. They're a paper tiger, everyone knows it. They can't do much, can't even train and advice their allies in Yemen properly, that requires actual experience, merit in your craft, intelligence and competence.
To remind people of how poorly Saudi has done to manage the fighting capability of it's own forces, they put MBS at the head of the Ministry of Defense, who has very large latitude in all security matters and developments, as at the age of 28, when he had zero military experience or training or background. That's the level of incompetence we are looking at here. Unfortunate. Trillions wasted on toys they barely know how to effectively use and make the most of. They should've been a mini-superpower by now with all they spent and purchased over the decades.
