Chances of unified Yemen are pretty slim without massive ground invasion ....it may go back to 60s era of north Yemen and south Yemen ..... what's your take on this ?
My take, even though I disagree in principle as I prefer the idea of Arab political unity rather than more division, is that the best idea is probably to divide Yemen into a north and South Yemen again. It seems to me that they can't live in peace. Last 10 years of civil war has not exactly given southern Yemenis appetite to reunify with the north if it remains under Houthi rule.
Anyway I will let Yemenis decide that. If they can remove bad apples such as Houthis and others (from both sides) and put their differences aside they should definitely remain united if you ask me. At least if the goal is to make Yemen a potentially prosperous and strong country. If the goal is to make Yemen weak, divided (as currently) then they should be supporting status quo.
As for Houthis, they are a cult started by the Al-Houthi family/clan that they are named after. It started as a political movement against the incompetence of Ali Abdullah Saleh and later evolved into an armed movement. To make a long story short, they have totally dominated the Zaydi Yemeni identity nowadays and have equaled Zaydis with Houthis similar to how Hezbollah has hijacked all of Lebanese Shia Arabs and their other movements.
Don't forget that not that long ago, prior to the Egyptian invasion of Yemen (which was also catastrophic), the Zaydis in the North were ruled by a Zaydi monarchy. As had been the case for 1000 + years. During the era of Nasser it was KSA that supported the Zaydis against the republicans.
So shifting alliances in Yemen is nothing new.
In many ways Yemen is the Afghanistan of the region. Very tribal.
Which is unfortunate as it is an incredibly beautiful country with a rich and great history and culture. The people are also great, northerners as well as southerners. On a personal note, I have visited Yemen several times and have extended family from there and partial ancestral ties to Yemen as well. I have nothing but love for the country and people.
A very famous Arab YouTuber visited Yemen (government controlled areas) recently and his views have been watched almost 10 million times.
Aden and Hadhramaut. Taiz as well.
Anyway, as for how to remove the terrorist cult from Northern Yemen, I believe that the Yemenis themselves will eventually remove them. Because as I wrote they have no plan for Yemen, offer no progress etc. They are basically backward khat-addicted cavemen. The foot soldiers. Many are illiterate as well.
What could they possible offer to Yemen when they cannot even offer the people that they occupy the basics? It is a joke.
Yemenis themselves will have to figure this out and solve it. The alternative is remaining a failed country.
