Houthis Hide in Opponents’ Houses to Evade Israeli Strikes​

The latest Israeli strikes against the Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen revealed that members of the group are hiding in residential areas in the capital Sanaa to evade the attacks.

The Houthis have hidden in the houses of their opponents after being forced to flee from their stronghold in the al-Jaraf neighborhood.

Informed sources in Sanaa told Asharq Al-Awsat that the most prominent Houthi leaders have hidden in the lavish houses of their rivals, whether they are former officials, merchants or lawmakers.

They are acting on strict orders to regularly change their places of residence to evade attacks.

The latest Israeli strikes on Thursday targeted three locations used by the Houthis. One hit a house near a water plant in a residential neighborhood, another a hiding spot in the Jabal Atan area and the third near the presidential complex that the Houthis use to hold important leadership meetings.

The sources confirmed that the Houthis closed roads leading to those areas after the attacks. One of the targeted buildings was levelled to the ground in the Israeli strike.

The prime minister of the Houthi-run government and several other ministers were killed in the strike on Sanaa, the head of the Houthi Supreme Political Council said on Saturday, in the first such attack to kill senior officials from the group.

Israeli army radio said the precision strikes were carried out based on intelligence from 24 hours earlier that confirmed that over ten senior military and political leaders were at the targeted building.

Israel said on Friday that the airstrike had targeted the group's chief of staff, defense minister and other senior officials and that it was verifying the outcome.

Since Israel's war in Gaza against the Palestinian group Hamas began in October 2023, the Houthis have attacked vessels in the Red Sea in what they describe as acts of solidarity with the Palestinians.

They have also frequently fired missiles towards Israel, most of which have been intercepted. Israel has responded with strikes on Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen, including the vital Hodeidah port.

During the last year, Israel carried out a series of assassinations targeting senior leaders and commanders of Hamas and its Lebanese ally Hezbollah, significantly weakening both groups.

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said on Saturday that the strike was "a crushing blow" against the Houthis, adding that "this is only the beginning."

Dude stop being so decisive trying to give you a break I honestly don’t really care for titles like Sunni or Shia or any other sects in Islam if your Muslim your Muslim simple as that there is no mention of of any of these sects in the Quran but have respect for the majority regardless of the minority in those sects yeah they are ruled by cowardly corrupt officials but that’s where we live at sorry but you have to be respectful of people.

There are plenty of corrupt leaders in all sects do we degrade those people for the people that run their countries no we shouldn’t so let’s leave it at that

All Sunni Arab countries are run by Pro Zionist/American dictators yet their people never rise up to save themselves and their Palestinian brothers from their puppet rulers. They prefer being obedient dogs of their Zionist masters and when Israel is done killing the last Palestinian, they will turn their attention on to them!

He said sunni Arabs not sunnis. Arabs have been beyond pathetic in the last 2 years except for the shias. 100 million Egyptians chilling along with the Jordanians. Jewlanis men do nothing when a 3rd Syria is occupied by Yahood. Israel is telling you they want greater israel and dumb Arab nations want Peace. What will these people say on judgement day as Palestinian brothers were genocided. America hates Arabs and arabs nations consider it an ally. Is USA neutral in the Palestine genocide? Its fully involved in it

Arab spring from Morocco to Egypt ro syria and etc sorry when your military and police are fully controlled by said governments really not that much say and when you do win over someone in the military they tend to take control of power…sisi anyone.
Before we get sidetracked let’s also be honest nearly ALL Muslim nations are controlled by corrupt inept leaders instead of wanting better for the future of their people they only worry for themselves it’s really not a Sunni or Shia thing it’s just corrupt people who fill their pockets while their people are wasting away(I don’t consider any of these folks Muslim you can pray five times a day but doing evil on your people will send you a one way ticket to hell)

Sometimes I think people here forget Palestinians identity themselves as Sunni but again refer to my Arab spring post 100 million or 200 million Egyptians doesn’t matter if Egyptians decided to revolt there would be as many dead Egyptians as there are Palestinians within a few weeks and sisi would get a pass by America but again let’s move on

Forgot to reply actually current American sentiment or at least large majority are going against Israel even trump has started to acknowledge this he even admitted something we have all know Israel has controlled congress for years but even that grip is slipping weird a sitting president would admit American government is controlled by israel
