They are big ticket purchases and would be pretty difficult to actively hide when they are flying above during ops, so no real reason to hide them. Will not happen. Since 2024 Pakistan has been very secrative with there army equipments. Not even small upgrade or update is shared directly.
Looking into it, less than 10 seem to have been delivered, around 4 to 8.
hey, it's a start, and even 4 will help boost Pakistan's anti-terror operations vastly.
It'll also finally help start retiring Pakistan's old and obsolete cobra-fleet.
And Cobras are old as shit. These won't be used in anti-terror ops. Cobras are being used for those with MI's.
The Z-10ME2s are configured for conventional anti-armour ops. There's some significant ECM and long-range strike (via miniature cruise missiles) capabilities on this aircraft. And Cobras are old as shit.
These were being bought precisely to replace the cobras.
Originally, the AH-1Z was supposed to replace them, until the Obama era sanctions hit, and Pakistani Zulus were no longer allowed to be transferred (despite efforts from the US Navy's campaigning, surprisingly).
Then the T-129s from Turkiye were blocked by the USA, due to the engine being American.
These will be used, and there are already reports that they may have already been used in Bajaur against terrorists.
Could be a number of reasons, but Cost is certainly a consideration. Getting 20-40 machines delivered and active and then buying support packages for them later makes more sense than buying fewer but getting all the Add-ons. We saw a similar situation with VT-4 and it’s APS systems.Interesting that they got them without the MMW radar mast ( MMW mast is the sort of thing you don't take on/off a lot - i.e. more of a set it and leave it ).
Wonder why they decided to purchase it without the radar.
