Man our Army aviation pilots are so good at flying the Cobra's. I wish we could get our hands on the AH-1Z Vipers, because our pilots would rock in those.
I always wonder, Pakistan military has a history of flying choppers like Cobra and even experience doing Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO), what's stopping them from manufacturing their own attack choppers? (even if its light attack helicopters). I know for certain there will be a an engine problem, which Pakistan doesn't have the skills and machinery tools to develop complex engines, but they can outsource them from China or Turkey etc. Can't Pakistan develop the airframe and blades?AH-1Z's are history now. Time to move on from both the T129 and AH-1Zs. The next decision point is either the T-929 or WZ-21's if a larger heavy is still appropriate in the India/Pakistan equation of course.
Same reasons why we never made anything out of the deep domestic support base we built for the Mirage III/5. Lack of policy will, lack of underlying industrial base for alloys, a lack of R&D-centric aerospace organizations, etc.I always wonder, Pakistan military has a history of flying choppers like Cobra and even experience doing Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO), what's stopping them from manufacturing their own attack choppers?
