Z-10 ME/P deliveries Updates: Pakistan Army Aviation.

Does anyone know how many of these we are looking for???

Or will they gradually increase in numbers over time

I also seem to recall one of the main reasons Pakistan was interested in the Turkish T129 was because Turkey itself was waiting for the larger follow on program (now almost complete) & and their was discussion of Pakistan receiving the TOT to make T129s inside Pakistan sort of like a helicopter JF17

Whichever the fanboys wish the most.

ISPR is watching this thread very closely.
Guess what? Many a stuff wished for in this forum has in fact got realized! One example: Mastan Sahib's (@MastanKhan) constant rebuking of the PAF for being too timid. This time they've got 6 jets....

The Z-10ME needs to be able to carry rockets with anti-stoke capabilities like the latest version of the APKWS.

The Z-10ME can act as low altitude mobile air defenses to cover areas of high interest.

Furthermore, a ground launched version of these rockets or even a drone carrying these rockets could receive guidance from the Z-10ME operating in the area, with its various sensors.

The seeker needs to be IR to work with the laser guidance system in the wings of the rocket.

Advocated for this system for so long; good to see it adopted. Now I just hope they make a stealth version of the Z-10ME (like the Comanches) so helicopters can come in low and take out enemy air defenses from unexpected angles, with these small but potent missiles.

A platform that would be very useful for China itself in a Taiwan contingency or against the likes of India by the PLA.

Hi,

Pray that the next time they realize that the enemy is going to destroy them to oblivion when it gets the chance---.

The Paf still thinks that their Tap dancing will stop the enemy---little do their realize that with each failure---the enemy is getting closer to success---just like Mahmood Ghaznavi---.

And this song & dance of the Paf will not stop the tide once it starts rolling---because Paf is not mentally prepared to take the challenge of KILLING 100 ENEMY PILOTS on day 1 of the battle---.

XM-501 NLOS – Non Line Of Sight Missile System

"....Using the two-stage boost-sustain rocket motor and GPS/INS to navigate to the designated target area, PAM can reach targets at a maximum range of 40 km. At close proximity to the target the missile employs automatic target acquisition and terminal guidance system, using the uncooled imaging infrared or semi-active laser seeker, to hit the target with high precision.

The PAM can also be directed to hit a specific location, utilizing GPS/INS guidance to navigate to the predefined grid coordinates. The missile is loaded with high explosive shaped charge with fragmentation wrap, defeating armored and soft targets alike. Each Command Launch Unit (CLU) contains 15 ready to fire missiles and one computer and Communications System (CCS) handling the system’s networking and control.

The XM-501 Non-Line of Sight Launch Missile System (NLOS-LS) Command Launch Unit can be deployed by a variety of means, including by parachute, sling-loaded from a UH-60 helicopter, or by truck (top) The system is operated unattended, and can be reloaded by hand.
Operating as networked assets, CLUs are operated as unattended units, remotely controlled directly by the supported unit. The CLU can fire missiles individually or dispense all missiles at a rapid succession in 5 seconds intervals. Being platform independent, loaded CLUs can be positioned at forward operating bases or pre-positioned in forward areas to support an unfolding operation. CLU can be moved on tactical vehicles (HMMWV) or medium trucks (FMTV), sling loaded under UH-60s or air-dropped form C-130.

By late 2009 the XM-501 performed a live test flight demonstrating the full capability of the Precision Attack Missile (PAM) using a live warhead.

The missile was launched from the NLOS-LS container launch unit (CLU) and used its on-board, semi-active laser seeker to detect, lock on and destroy a stationary BM-21 rocket launcher at a range of 38 kilometers (23.5 statute miles).

“The success of this test means we’re only steps away from putting this capability in the hands of soldiers and sailors” Said Scott Speet, executive vice president of NetFires LLC and Raytheon’s NLOS-LS program director.

“This test proves NLOS-LS is going to revolutionize the BCT’s ability to strike targets with beyond line-of-sight lethality for both stationary and moving targets,” commented Col. Doug Dever, the U.S. Army’s NLOS-LS project manager.

NLOS-LS takes targeting information from the command and control cell and sends it to the NLOS-LS CLU’s computer and communications system for initial missile targeting. The missile can also use the command and control cell’s targeting information for in-flight updates.

During the test, the PAM missile received a tactical representative target location error, joined the network with its on board radio and operated as a node on the net throughout the flight. Prior to impact, the missile sent back a terminal target image to the Advanced Field Artillery Tactical Data System."

They cannot be used at very low altitudes like attack choppers or hide behind hills before emerging to take on their targets. UAVs have utility but they cannot totally replace attack helicopters in a conventional war.
Different purposes, Attack helicopters can do something that drones can't, hover, they can more effectively adapt to a changing situation, also attack helicopters can operate from forward bases close action while drones have to take off from main bases
Bro. UCAVs come in many varieties. I'm just listing one of them. there are also helicopter types of UCAVs that support hovering attacks.
Gunship in war now face more threats and challenges, but Pakistan's procurement of any gunship helicopter is not tied only for any future anti armour war, but in my opinion more pressing need come for anti terrorism operations in sub conventional operations.
If the main purpose is to serve counter-terrorism operations, there is even less need to procure specialized armed helicopters.

BTW. In the division of labor among China's various armed forces, one of PAP's main tasks is counter-terrorism operations. It is not the main task of the PLA.

If you are interested, you can learn something about PAP.

Not the main purpose but important purpose.

In more easy way try to understand that India and Pakistan are not going to fight war every day, but Pakistan has to fight the terrorist at our western borders from cost of Makran in the south to mountainous regions in the North almost every days as a matter of routine.

But we can't afford to purchase big ticket dedicated assets for the anti terrorist operation which mean any system which should be inducted in the Arm forces must have the dual capabilities i.e. first is to perform fundamental duty to defend against the our enemy India and also could be used for counter insurgency ad anti terrorism operations which take precedence in routine use.

Now as some people have commented that Z-10 would be exclusively used against India and it would free the Cobra fleet for sub conventional operations.

They are right only to the extent that Z-10 would free the Cobra fleet for operations but it does not necessarily mean tha Z-10 would not be used for sub conventional operations when we know that when first Z-10 was tested Paksitam it took part in COIN operations as well.

Secondly with the every passing day maintenance of Cobra fleet will become difficult so at some point we have to relief it even from the sub conventional use.

Hi,

Isn't the cobra fleet outdated now---?

Hi,

Isn't the cobra fleet outdated now---?
Yes ... But could be used for for COIN operations as long as India does not provide MANPADS to the TTP and Baloch Terrorist; which I believe for many obvious reasons India would not do.

Hi,

Hi, the Cobra fleet should have been retired a lot time ago, but Pakistan had no replacement. I remember reading in Air Forces Monthly over a decade ago the Cobras had issues in high altitude in the Northern Areas, but there was no other platform available.

PA needs to replace them with the Z-10. When will Pakistan learn, F-16 embargos in the 90s, limits on F-16 usage 2000s, cutoff of using FMS for F-16 during Obama's time, no engine sale for Turkish gunships?
