Egyptian Armed Forces

The number and model of F-15 fighters that would be offered to Egypt is unknown at this time, but will likely be a version of the new F-15EX (like the F-15ID offered to Indonesia), optimized for Cairo’s needs, while addressing the security concerns of Israel and the U.S. Congress.

Why buy a platform that "addresses" Israel's "needs"? What kind of silliness is that ? How does this benefit Egypt relative to Israel? Surely this money could be well spent on a 5th gen platform instead ? Take your pick of KF-21, J-35A, or even Kaan? Given that Egypt already operates the Rafales with "Meteors", why not bulk up on Rafales if more capacity is required or older platforms need to be replaced until Kaan matures, or just go to J-35A's ??

Madness, total madness.

i wonder egypt is 100 milion people country people why dont they develop and produce there own fighter like turkey

I think Egypt is trying to build a case against the US before opting to China's J-10/35s. Most likely, Egypt will ask for a fully armed version that retains all its capabilities, which the Pentagon will almost certainly reject due to QME restrictions. It could also be a political maneuvering -or simply a bargaining tactic to push for better deals from other suppliers/competitors

Honestly, yes. AirPower is critical to modern warfare, why gimp the most important part of your military ? Why not spend the money on other things?

Yes and no

The burden of the six day war defeat was so economically straining they didn’t have the funds to pursue the project to its production phase, but originally they were planning to produce I believe 90 aircrafts total, don’t know where the source is but I read it somewhere online, take it with a pinch of salt

Took turkey decades of expertise before they could even launch spare parts and components of there own to build an indigenous fighter, they’re still struggling with having a domestic engine and we’re banking on American engines for the first production batches. Pakistan has had a couple of decades experience with only the jf 17 and it’s only a semi indigenous plane mostly built up by China.

Now take a look at Egypt with its strained economy and lack of industry due to war, corruption, meddling, revolutions, terrorism etc. all that takes at least a solid decade assuming everything goes right and then you can move with r and d, prototype production, sourcing of materials( which all require large amounts of funding being poured into a combined project), and most importantly, building up the brains for those ambitions while having no risk of brain drain from a nation. No point in having a large youth population if you can’t get them to work and power industries and the brains for that if we’re talking ambitious military projects. That’s why the military was so keen on not sacrificing military funding despite harsh living conditions for the average folk over there. Economic prosperity will not come at the cost of security.

Still disagree with f15s since Chinese tech has way more leverage and leniency, not to mention better munitions like pl15 and pl20. While eagles carry limited use and kill switches.

Rafales with meteors are perfect by themselves, I see no reason to pair typhoons up with them. Especially multirole wise.

J10c should absolutely replace the majority of f16s in air superiority/advanced multirole capabilities. And j35 should be a top priority.

Frankly i believe even MiG 35s with zhuk aesa radars are better then those f15s due to freedom and leniency as well as potential for license manufacturing (yes I know zhuk radars aren’t being fielded en masse but the point still stands) Way more options as opposed to more advanced electronics and components/munitions. Your already getting advanced and proven capabilities with Chinese tech. Tech that can actually go toe to toe with American aviation, or at the very least hold their own quite well.

That’s why back in the days of the su35 craze, despite not having aesa tech, I was staunchly against all and any f15 deal due to aforementioned reasons, and continue to do so. No reason to use a template your foes know the ins and outs of, especially if they push America to give them to you, just a big red flag.

Gomig 21 use to go crazy over that and Tbf rightfully so.
