Mamdani’s win adds some joy to politics again. An enthustic challenger to Trump, with what appears to be the stamina and appetite to challenge him.

The struggle between the two, the shadow boxing for influence over solutions and ways to pay for policies and challenges to each other in the court, will be an adult version of Tom and Jerry (Trump and Mamdani).



Mamdani went from his victory speech after midnight to a 7 am interview on GMA. He’s got the stamina to run circles around Trump. Btw, I hope he trains for soccer so he is ready to lead the city when the World Cup comes.

Again with the half baked innuendo... the democratic party did not endorse Mamdani... both house minority leader Jeffries, senate minority leader Shumer and NY state democratic party chair Jay Jacobs. All three are from New York and represent the same party. In fact, Cuomo who was in essence the republican candidate owing to the support from all the republicans and asking de facto Sliwa to drop in his favor is a democrat, was the governor of the state.

To your second point... no the republicans are as much if not more averse to supporting Israel than even democrats... zion is a hot potato that no one wants to hold for long... yet to be seen however I speculate that the next election will be decided on the vocal opposition of Israel or actively puzzled to out the true intentions.

Now that the election is over, the dust is setting, and everyone continues to whine on social media, remember this:

He will have to deliver on all his promises. And already, resignations are being tendered. FDNY Fire Commissioner Robert Tucker has announced he will step down next month.

Well I hope Mr Mamdani delivers on his promises to help the poor and working class, but if he doesn't , it's not game over. US politics is full of corrupt deadbeats who only served their donors and continue to live off their incumbency, name recognition and low information voters. It all depends on how good a talker and presenter you are, how good your game is.

Look at Mr Obama, he delivered very little of his promises and yet if it was possible the Dems would happily nominate him to a third term as President.

Btw. Something I noticed was that many of these Asian majority neighborhoods in northwest queens didn’t vote in a majority for Mamdani, while those in Brooklyn and manhattan did more so. An interesting observation of how many Asian American voters are positioning themselves; stalwarts of the tried and true democratic establishment message. With south Asians lean towards dems, I see Dems trying to court them to get voter turnout, while republicans courting Asian voters more.

Zohran will have to put extra effort to win them over if he is to expand his appeal to leverage it in the Governor’s race and congressional races next year.

Perhaps they did not perceive him as "South Asian" because of the fact that he was born in Uganda.

In New York, the Ugandan identity is not really perceived amongst “ethnic” voters as such; I know of many Chinese who’s families came via southeast Asian countries, but they get lumped together here as Chinese, who from outside China and know another language.

Even amongst non-ethnic voters, he is more perceived for his ideology than his ethnicity or country of origin.

If you compare the 2021 election and 2025 election in 2 snap shot, this will be it





2 things you will notice

1.) 2025 election had almost double the turnout than the 2021 election
2.) Mandani won with 50.4% of the vote, which means 49% of the other votes for not Mandani

So we can see the following. If we compare the pre-election poll and the last election result, you can see a similar number of Democrats that does not support Mandani voted for the only other Democratic candidate, Cuomo

So if this is 2021, let's say Mandani does not happen, Cuomo would have replicated the result Adam did (considering some GOP voters who supported Silwa in the pre-poll switched to Cuomo during the election, that's the reason why Silwa only had 7% vote.) Which shows you the base for the Democratic establishment remains unchanged, that literally the same number of people (well, maybe dropping 2 or 3 points in support) that had voted for Adams in 2021 voted for Cuomo

On the other hand, Mandani happened, and this jumped the turnout by almost 100%, which means the sheer volume of Mandani's vote that had not been covered before (assuming new democrats' vote is not going toward Cuomo, which is a reasonable assumption to make) won him this election.

This is extremely similar to Trump's MAGA and generic GOP vote in some sense, without Trump, GOP Ballot suffer a down turn and Trump involvement give any election a 3 to 5 % boost, that's how he taken the Presdiency from the Dem in 2024, that's also why most poll got his vote wrong, Mandani effectively was doing the same thing, his present in a ballot box increase the turn out, that's is the key as to why he was elected, I don't think most Dem establishment actually supported him in this election, but he won it by basically putting himself out there, be the talk of the town, and that's how he won it.
