Imran Khan fooled no one. Just like Sheikh Mujeeb and Bhutto before him. It’s always the military establishment which time and again starts acting like some 'self-appointed' sole "defender" of Pakistan. 🙄
The military establishment is the sole defender of Pakistan and at the same time the sole reason for it being kept backwards. Imran Khan has indeed fooled a nation of simple-minded uneducated citizens who complain more than they actually want change.

Several things can be true and are often hard to swallow

The military establishment is the sole defender of Pakistan…
Is that so, then WHO gave them this authority to begin with? Was it the voters of Pakistan? Constitution of Pakistan? Or it’s just Badhmashi from those who think they can do whatever they feel like—just because they happen to own the largest stock of guns & weaponry in the country? 🙄

Then explain why this cannot be applied to military establishment too—which has been fooling the simple-minded uneducated citizens of Pakistan for the past 70+ years? 🙄

it is no one is saying the opposite , why is your only defense >> what about military ??

Its a game they will loose eventually. The armed forces must work with the civilians, reach common understanding and take Pakistan forward. Or just announce end of democracy, elections and start a theocracy but that will too fail when all misadventures will be blamed on the army. A civilian led government has its own benefits, let civilians deal with civilians, let them fight it out whilst you protect the country.
I have a feeling the establishment (not just the portion of military but everyone else that makes it up - I feel odd repeating it but people are myopic to focus on just that) will further create dismemberment of Pakistan before they do that.

Because military establishment repeatedly claims to be the "sole" defender of Pakistan, without having any legitimacy to do so. As per the constitution of Pakistan, military’s sole role and duty is to defend the country’s borders. Nothing more or less. And yet, we see military establishment operating businesses, running civilian departments, meddling in politics. Why, why, why? What’s wrong with them? 🙄

I used to hate Altaf Hussain believing he was a powerful figure who destroyed Karachi for his own politics, i bought into the "state’s" narrative and propaganda too. But over time i realized that Altaf was allowed to carry on with his thuggery for decades precisely because the "state" enabled it behind the scenes.

I was stunned when Wajahat Saeed once asked Altaf Hussain how weapons reached Karachi. Instead of answering directly Altaf asked him who controls hundreds of checkpoints from Karachi to KPK? That moment made me pause and reflect, and that's when it became clear to me that in Pakistan chaos is always by design.

Aray chup kar ireland walay kahee kay

How does it feel knowing that the generals have to salute a scumbag like zardari every morning?
Bring me an intellectual argument worthy of a response and I might give you a real response, until then keep sulking.

Who else to criticize but the military? They've been running the country directly and indirectly since Jinnah died. Any civilian leader we've had has been backed by them as well (until they fell out of favour)
