PN MPA: Sea Eagle RAS ATR-72 - Discussion & Updates

Unfortunately the surprise of my wonder weapon has been lost for the next sim

How about we continue from where we left?
Nope
Will start from scratch - stricter rules and easier setup for me since some updates to the original.

Lets create another thread here in a bit - use the same modus but also use some back end live views to get more clarity and involvement. Im thinking an anonymous stream or something??
Anyway
- lets not be the ones to derail this thread further.

We'll think about it.
With every month, there is an accretion to our resources, far beyond what we had anticipated and sought to factor in. 😁

Sea Sultan is not a replacement for P3c in the short to mid term, but both ac will operate in coordination with each other.
PN has no plan to retire the P3C in the near future

Does anyone know why PN retired the Bréguet Atlantic MPA prematurely when the French may still operates it? @Quwa

the french atl2 is nothing like our version, aesa, new sonar suite, new esm etc etc, it was a comprehensive upgrade to an old, dying airframe, france just had no replacement planned because the only option was buy US or build it yourself again

Couldn’t PN have upgraded it the same way they updated the Agosta-90b submarines?

Old airframes. PN Atlantics were nearly 40 year old when they were retired while Agosta 90s were not even 20 when they were MLU'd also it's much easier to upgrade submarines then aircraft.

Does anyone know why Pak navy opted for PW127M engines and not the newer PW127XT engines?

The 3% decrease in fuel burn and 35% increase in time-on-wing are the two main benefits without any increase in power out unlike the switch that PN opted for (i.e. from pw127f to pw127m).
By the way since Sea eagles were built on the official the shelf design, the engines can easily be swapped to XT standards with minimal structural change. Main change is updated engine wiring harness kit and update to the avionics and software calibration. PN can swap as individual engines need to be replaced as the aircraft can fly with a mix of Pw17M and XT engines.

secondly,
while trying to dig up some info on the engine selection I realised that none of the articles I read mention if the sea eagles have automated chaff flare dispensers (CFD). is it true that they dont exist?

P.S.
I know I am opening an almost dead thread but I couldn't find some reliable source/info hence posting here.

It comes down to what is available, and what is supportable over the long run. The PW127Ms are probably more supportable and cheaper to support than the newer ones ??

Perhaps one has to question where we got these airframes from?

Because, if we these are used airframes that had been operated by some Commercial Airliner in the past..., i'd be pretty expensive getting new engines (too).
