Sources said that the initial strength of the FCC would be determined through a Presidential Order, while any subsequent increase in the number of judges would require an Act of Parliament.

Inserted into the Constitution as Chapter 1A, the FCC would have its own chief justice — serving a fixed three-year term — and judges, who may be appointed from the SC, senior high court judges with at least seven years of experience, or very senior advocates with over two decades in practice.

FCC judges would retire at the age of 68. The retirement age for SC judges currently is 65 as per Article 179 of the Constitution.

The amendment further stipulates that the president may transfer a high court judge from one high court to another on the recommendation of the Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP). A judge of a high court who does not accept a transfer under this Article shall be deemed to have retired from his office.

The FCC would assume some of the SC’s most significant powers. Under the new Article 189, the SC would be downgraded to the apex court for civil and criminal appeals only, while FCC decisions would be binding on all courts, including the SC itself.

The FCC would also hold exclusive jurisdiction over disputes between the Federation and provinces, or among provinces, and could, on its own motion, take up any case involving a “substantial question of law as to the interpretation of the Constitution“.

Moreover, the FCC would take over the SC’s authority on cases concerning the enforcement of fundamental rights, appeals from high courts on constitutional matters, writ petitions under Article 199 (except family and rent cases), and even the president’s power to seek advisory opinions from the apex court.

Yes it does actually - like winning wars.
Since you have just waken up from your hiberation, there some news for you -- the whole damn country has been under the weight of Army's balls since 1947. But the only difference is that at least they WIN a War. And winning a war is the REAL DEAL unlike winning a cricket match and banging western chics, and then all of sudden discover "pain for Pakistan people" while married to a JEW.
Be realistic - we were and are under the Rule of the Military and it will NOT change. Imran is not getting out nor he is becoming a PM ever again.
We need to work with what we have and remain united. We cannot destroy our country for just one fuking man.

The military was accused of all kind of inefficiency, corruption, DHA, 'FA Pass Duffers' blah blah but look at what happened in May 2025: Despite the odds, Pakistan stood up to India and the world noticed that and now Pakistan's star has risen. What does that tell about the Pakistan military? They are, contrary to what some say above, an efficient, competent entity.
Also, the military is not imposed upon Pakistanis: It comes from all ethnic groups, all strata of Pakistan's society. The military IS Pakistanis! The false divide the Messiah Khan started has blinded the expats about so many things.
Also, and it is very important to note: What is being done via the 27th Const. Amendment was done by Imran for this ten-year rule by working behind the scene with some Generals. The idea wasn't bad in theory: Stabilize Pakistan's politics to focus on continuity of policies while doing reform. But this time there is a Const. way to implement that strategy.

This arrangement is exactly to stop the musical chair which has been ruining Pakistan since Zia's death in 1988. THAT's where Pakistan went off the rails and from thence India and Bangladesh started marching ahead of Pakistan.
Anyone, with any shred of political understanding of Pakistan's politics should know that even if Imran is released, made a PM, given all the political power then still Sindhis will vote for the Bhuttos and start marching, the Noonies will start marching, the Maulana in K-P will start his own march. Why? Because the 'incumbency factor' makes most sitting govt unpopular because people are just too impatient. Look at here in America: Barely a year ago Trump was nearly 80 million and now many are already cursing him. But in case of Pakistan, there won't be mere cursing: There would the good old 'long marches' to Islamabad after the Opposition regroup.
And thus the musical chair would continue.

What did army do? It was professional and competent Air Force that actually performed in the field during the skirmishes with India.

Coming back to the topic, clearly suggests amendment is just for show, and we all know whose calling the shots.
