Reminder -- the discussion is regarding Chinese 6th generation aircraft. Discussions around cruise missiles and what the Russians will / will not / should do is unrelated.

That make sense to me.. J-36 is the new 6th generation bomber but kind a fast.. J-50 though still confuses me how it will stabilize and fly normally.. its testing will take a lot of time until it is cleared for production. Oh and its fly by wire will be one hell of problem to make it right i guess

J-36 makes H-20 irrelevant. It has better stealth, same range with aerial refueling, strong air to air capability. Even the US downsized from B-2 which has 4 engines to B-21 which has 2 engines. J-36 has 3 engines and has a lot of range.

They are not comparable. J-36 is not the strategic bomber H-20.

J-36 is still a fighter in that it is air to air focused. H-20 will have much longer range and payload capacity compared to J-36 and more focused on air to ground/ship. If H-20 can perform any air to air role, it will not be comparable to what J-36 can do and it would only be to make use of its longer range.

If J-36 is used to perform any air to ground role, it will not be as long ranged as H-20 or have the same volume capacity.

There is also a, shall we just say very fast aircraft that is not the Tengyun space vehicle delivery single stage to orbit platform.

This fast (and large) aircraft is not the H-20 keep in mind.

To me from its design it seems that J-36 is a long range multi role heavy platform capable of penetrating contested airspace to deliver large payloads either air to air or air to ground. It will be very effective on western pacific theater where targets will be spread over thousands and thousands KMs. It seems supersonic (likely top speed at mach 2) likely capable of super cruise unlike B-2 or B-21. Another role which came to my mind is it can take the role of long range node for CCA across the battlefied. The major issue of MUM-T will be to be able to operate unmanned at far most ranges. where J-36 will definitely play a big role

Now that make sense. This is what will be extremely important in future airwarfare and thus that is why they are more inclined to make it as much stealthier as possible which can be seen in prototype 2 tail changes from prototype 1. This is why they go with 3 engines for more power for more processing

All the next gen tailess platforms are going to work seamlessly, two manned jets, cca loyal wingman, unmanned fighter, two strategic flying wing drone, and the last piece of puzzle, H20.

However I need to add, I‘m not living within Weibo, I don‘t have a special trigger program that gives me an alarm for new intersting images, I‘m only hanging around much too often within the SinoDefenceForum and usually these guys are much quicker than me finding the images.

H-20is not become irrelevant because of J-36, J-36 won't have enough range to strike deep inside the USA, and conventional Air refuelers is the Easy targets for long range BVR like R-37M/AIM-174 and upcoming AIM-260, J-36 will be a long range BVR fighter jet (air superiority jet) with the secondary mission of anti-ship and strike role as well as drone controller/command and control jet
