How did Mousavi manage to survive ? Was he never targeted by the Israelis ?
Case of anybody's guess but I think Israel believed it would be a shock operation where it will cripple the top command and forces will crumble from inside within few hours. In contrast, the repeated reciprocating strikes by IRGC stretched over 12 days, esp the ones that came as successful retaliations on Bazan oil field, Gav Tech park, Weizmann institute etc and later in neighborhoods may have pushed Israel to halt for one reason. Their operation failed to meet the goasl ... They kill one commander and another 5 emerge from the shadows with same experience/training. IRGCASF refused to be deterred from their commander's death, kept on pounding Israel so what did the Israeli campaign actually achieve for them? An even more emboldened, war proven/experienced force with thrice the budget, their aura of invincibility is shattered, IRI still stands, half a ton HEU is in Iran, missile sites are back and even more in numbers now, nuclear program still running without IAEA monitoring. Israel killed civilians, congratulations even disgruntled Iranians rallied stupid Ayatollahs.
IRI is a shit show of incompetent islamo-marxists zealots but Israel failed miserably IMO in this war. They showed their weaknesses massively without achieving anything in grand scheme.
