They protested.....and got TSMC to make them happy and a lot of help in their Military Industrial Complex, as mentioned above.

Some random civilians like yourself who don't know much can protest all they want. War Planners and top politicians know US never left Taiwan against China, never will.

"Cutting ties" never actually happened, it was just a political stunt. If US had actually cut ties, Taiwan would be under Chinese control today.....but it's not and probably won't be for a long long time.

Not exactly TSMC but the US did play a pivotal role in how semiconductors were set up and flourished in Taiwan.
