Venezuela - US Conflict: News, Updates

I'm sure Khalid Sheikh Mohammed is happy to know that. Or Daniel Noriega.
Just because something illegal has a precedent does not make it legal.
Legally speaking, the US cannot put people that are not subject to US federal laws on trial, particularly people with immunity under international law.

As for the first guy though, he was responsible for 9/11. So, I would put him in a different category. International law does recognize the rights of sovereign states to hunt terrorists.

In Trump’s interview to Fox News this morning, he said the cartels run Mexico not the Mexican president, aka, we may have to do what we may have to do there as well. He ends the interview with “Something is going to have to be done with Mexico”.
The President is not wrong. The cartels have far more control than we think.

Saudis will be the big losers here. Americans have successfully grabbed the world’s largest oil reserves. Saudis will no longer be needed by the Americans that much now. If I was Riyadh today I would be feeling very vulnerable and bad news for them.
The world's largest oil reserves that are far from the best. Is the additional refining costs worth it? Some may say yes. Others may say no.

Doesn't excuse third world countries. That's why there are revolutions and instability in third war countries.

Musk created jobs sure he is an true entrepreneur even though many jobs are for H1B1 Visas not for Americans.

Trump did not create jack shit. He eliminated many jobs due to his tariff war and withdrawing federal funding from many industries which has always been reason for many jobs created.

Trump administration is sending jobs to Israel. Big tech did mass layoffs in the US then opened branches in Israel offshoring thousands of jobs there and in India.

Healthcare industry took a big hit. Universities lost funding because of Israel and jobs were eliminated as a result.

Quality of jobs is low and unemployment rate is not telling the truth. People are driving for door dash few hours a week they count that as a job.

Most Americans are making $17-23 an hour and cannot afford health insurance premiums this year.

The wealth disparity is huge in the US worse than some third world countries and it's next to impossible to get into real estate and own properties in the US if you're of the younger generation and didn't inherit anything unlike third world where you can own many things.

For average American:

- rent going up
- HoA fees keep going up
- Interest rates very high
- Credit score downgraded despite making on time payments and having good credit portfolio
-Cost of living and housing going up
-Medical bills going up, deductibles are too high
-Car insurance going up
-Taxes still very high

For young kids it's even worse they are in tens of thousands in debt for student loans and can't find jobs right now because this ass clown Trump's job market he fucked confidence in the economy hiring is being frozen in lots of places
Bro,
Tesla have over 60,000 local employees in different facilities across the US. SpaceX have over 12,000 local employees in different facilities across the US. You are correct to point out that Elon Musk have created H1B1 jobs. You are also correct to point out that Trump's tariffs have affected some industries and reduced job opportunities in them. Trump's tariffs have also increased house-building costs. However, Trump have convinced many companies to invest in the US and create new jobs in the US by extension. He aims to expand American manufacturing in the long-term although there might be contraction in the short-term. Trump have also promised to reduce house-building costs in 2026.

The latest survey showed a weaker gain in production, amid a renewed contraction in new order books – the first in exactly a year. International sales continued to fall, in part linked to tariffs, which also continued to push up operating expenses at an elevated pace. That said, although remaining historically elevated, both input and output prices rose at their slowest rates for 11 months. Positively, firms reported that employment growth was sustained into the end of 2025, with job creation reaching the most pronounced since August. Confidence in the outlook also remained positive despite easing slightly since November. (S&P Global)

Generation Alpha is facing the problems you mentioned around the world unfortunately. Some of the problems continue since Biden's term but Trump needs more time to address them. I think it is early to judge Trump's plan. The MSM is also more critical of Trump's term not realizing that a profound shift in economic plan will affect some industries and employment in the short term.

How Manhattan Federal Court Would Handle the Trial of a President

Nicolás Maduro, Venezuela’s president, could stand trial in Federal District Court in New York City, the site of other high-profile court proceedings.

Attorney General Pam Bondi announced the indictment Saturday morning, thanking Jay Clayton, the U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York, where the indictment was returned. President Trump later raised the question of where the defendants might face justice.

At a news conference, the president raised the possibility that the defendants could be put on trial in Miami.

“They’ll be heading to ultimately New York and then a decision will be made, I assume, between New York and Miami or Florida,” Mr. Trump said, without elaborating.

In either case, Mr. Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, are expected to make their first appearance in Manhattan federal court sometime soon.

It could not immediately be determined whether Mr. Maduro and Ms. Flores had retained lawyers or will have counsel assigned to them.

If the case remains in Manhattan, the U.S. attorney’s office, led by Mr. Clayton, will handle the prosecution. The case has been assigned to Judge Alvin K. Hellerstein, a veteran of nearly three decades on the federal bench who was appointed by President Bill Clinton. The charges were based on an investigation by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.

LOL! A 92 year old Jewish judge will preside over this case.

Why are we even debating the quality & extraction of Venezuelan oil? What’s the real matter on hand is that US military just abducted a sitting President of another sovereign country on their own soil. That’s all as @VCheng often says.

It seems the US now owns Venezuela’s future – for better or worse

Anthony Zurcher
BBC North America correspondent

If there were any doubts about the breadth of American involvement in Venezuela after the US action to remove Nicolas Maduro from power, Donald Trump has laid them to rest.

“We are going to run the country until such time as we can do a safe, proper and judicious transition,” he said.

It’s a bold statement to make, given the economic and political turmoil the South American nation now faces.

Trump, a sharp critic of the US invasion of Iraq, now seems to be in the business of nation-building – and dealing with the consequences of American military action.

In the words of one of the American architects of the Iraq War, Secretary of State Colin Powell, “If you break it, you own it.”

The US now owns Venezuela’s future – for better or worse.
I'll sum it up:

Iraq 3.0.

US president describes achievements with typical bravado

Donald Trump speaking at press conference

Donald Trump is describing the successful military operation in Venezuela with typical bravado. It was a display of “overwhelming military power” and a “spectacular assault”.

He called it “one of the most stunning, effective and powerful displays of American military might and competence in American history”.

Supporting those boasts is the fact that no American military personnel were killed and, by Trump’s account, no US military equipment was destroyed, while the objective – capturing Nicolas Maduro and his wife – was achieved.
I seem to recall Obama doing similar. Perhaps a bit more polished but similar.

Then, let's not forget the epic carrier landing and "Mission Accomplished" moment.
