PAF Conducts Successful Test Launch of Taimoor ALCM

It's actually very nice to see civilians in such large numbers with very healthy pay / compensation packages employed at NASTP / Cyber Command / Crypto setups etc.

Some of people there are actually drawing salaries even more than CAS. But that's the way forward.

It is a different skill set, the focus is to make technology development and weapons full time long term careers and to move away from the cottage industry approach that Pakistan has had so far.

Hire young very intelligent graduates on mass, create the environment for innovation and good things will happen once they get the experience. That is how Baykar grew: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baykar

NASTP will only fix things if some of the existing people in state run organisations are moved into NATSP so that there is consolidation of skills, experience and products and more critical mass in things like engine development etc.

The manufacturing side has to be fixed too so that it is not laboratory style manufacturing but more more industrial on scale.
There are a lot of public-private as well as public-public partnerships for various projects. Because without private sector's input, industrial scale is difficult to achieve.

Cybersecurity degree was started in Air University with this aim. 👍 Also, a skill development program in NASTP Kharian for University of Gujarat students near the industrial cities of Sialkot and Gujranwala is for same reason. Faisalabad and Multan are next chapters in plan.

Why not start BS Cyber at CAE with a third stream of PAF's own engineers in addition to aero and avionics?

After all, you will need people in uniform with knowledge at policy making level. I don't expect a pilot from GDP branch being ACAS Cyber or DG C4I to fully understand the complexities at field level. (?)

We just saw raising of PAF Cyber command about 2 years ago and this department in Air University. I don't know about future plans but this suggestion makes a lot of sense. Bringing qualified people through Combat Support courses in uniform is a short term solution too till then.

The problem is - an engineer in uniform doesn't really do any engineering - all because the service puts him in such fazooool day to day taskings related to admin and management.

Lets be honest, what do our EOs at flight lines and AD units really do? Jahazon ka, radars ka aur generators ka tail paani pura karnay men lagaya hua hota he 🤣

Very few go to R&D streams and get some dedicated time to do some real engineering work.

Now this Cyber stuff. You simply can't learn without practical hands on experience and subsequent international certifications.

Sorry for the off topic post, but just a ball park figure will do. What is the CAS net pay?

I don't know exactly, bro - should be around 1 Mil with all allowances etc.

You think he cares about it? I don’t think he gets to spend much of it courtesy the perks and privileges.

However, i do know - some civilians in PAF have salaries in millions with other facilities similar to people in uniform (medical etc)

The reason why civilian engineers in NASTP are earning more than thrice of PAF ones. 😅

Yes. I hear stories full of jealousy from PAF folks regarding the salaries of civilians 🤣🤣
But Khobsorat Larkiyan tu phir bhi AF wale hi le jate hai...the rest goes to military, and remaining navy wale, left overs are for Civilians. (Mazak hai bhai serious na ho jana)
