Interestingly enough apartments are cheaper compared to the current 5 marla micro houses on offer. Even a budget 5 marla single story house will set you back between 75 to 90 lakh rupees, a double story 5 marla house in the same area will cost you around 1.6 to 2 (cr) - an apartment for instance for a single married couple minus kids would cost between 37 Lakh and up to 95 Lakh depending on the area.
Obviously this doesn't include the high upmarket apartments and pent houses which are not worth the money - you are better of just buying a house.
I made some small purchase a few years ago, and even now I would say that the housing market in Pakistan is highly inflated and some of the development makes no sense from an environmental protection perspective.
Building near flood hazard zones, industrial plants and fault lines is a recipe for disaster in the longer term. Just look at Model Town Humak on Kahuta road and the complaint of residents develop respitory disorders due to gasses produced by the chemical plant in Humak?
I agree that the problem to housing is needed as population grows - I mean this year Rawalpindi/Islamabad's population exceeded that of LA itself, those people have to live somewhere and there is only so much space inside Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
