Another thing to add, not since the 70s/80s have we had a real "lightweight" fighter.

F-16, Gripen, Mirage 2000 and MIG-29 were more medium. No real true successor to F-5 and MIG-21/F-7 ever really materialised.

JF-17 is that plane.

agree, i think jf 17 a rough horse for daily work like air petrol anti teeror mission a jet easy to maintain . like cd 70 in pakistan . in fighter jet as you mentined mig 21 . this is a huge market and no jet here is to compete plus a package of training and integration by paf is also attractie package for other air forces

Nah, ur being a pessimist, Jeff gives top notch capabilities at the fraction of the cost, data links, secure communications, ew suite and long range BVR missiles. That's what these countries want. If not all at least a 2 will go through.

Will be more than 2...that's what i estimate..........sitting defence chiefs don't just strut around like that without a purpose in their visit......and that too all of a sudden in 2025 and 2026 post May 7th clash.

I think a lot of countries are interested in the overall setup, how to have credible defense on low budgets.

Remember railway track shitting Indians have exported their 72 inch chests via bollywood to the world........so everyone is interested in knowing how the heck you lose your top combat jets and assets to a far financially weaker adversary, that too when literally you chose the timing of air combat?

Now, a lot of this is due to PAF's network integration and many of the mentioned buyers of JF17 will never be able to purchase SAAB 2000 ERIEYE level Awacs, let alone deploy them, but JF17 BLK III with PL15s still gives them something to go toe to toe with lethal 4.5th gen jets.

Remember how Soviets sold the Mig 19/21/23 around the world to nations that couldn't get Western jets? JF-17 can satisfy that requirement easily.

out of a fleet size of 60, 5 of south africas jets were servicable in 2023.

Not old junk planes, modern gripens and hawks, the supply line was there...the funds we're not. And he expects us to believe that they're looking to buy JF-17'? OK.

Jordan has built their entire future fighter stack around the F-16V.

Peru has enough rafales on order to replace all of their legacy fighter types.

Saudi Arabia... just pure delusion. I would love for someone to give me an answer on how rolling over loans into fighters would work, if we cant pay for the loans, how can we pay for the fighters?

I think we should hold on the hype train a little bit. Indonesia did seem to be interested in defence deal, but I don't think JF-17 is on the card right now. Indonesia is already trying hard to seek KF-21.
