The point is that blaming Israel for what it may or may not want is useless. The real focus must remain on how Iran can and does respond.

Water is wet? Okay, Israel is bad. We get it. Now what is Iran going to do about it?

IMO, my post that you quoted had some substance. Your response had none. I posited, based on evidence, which others had shared above, that Netanyahu really wants to destroy Iran as long as Trump is the POTUS. Your response to that? Everyone can read the thread.
Please put your neck out for a little bit regardless of which side you support? Solomon does that and I respect him for that despite no agreeing him with most of the time. Your arguments mostly amount to 'water is wet' in most threads.

My biggest fear is that the Americans want to hit Iran with some sort of a nuclear weapon to re-assert it's declining military influence around the world. If that happens, I am assuming Russia will do something similar in Ukraine which is something they're itching to do but are only restrained by China.

I support Iran except for its "Death to USA" mantra, of course, but does it matter? My support one way or the other does not affect this discussion in any way at all.

Can Iran avoid a war, or are the terms to avoid a war so unacceptable that annihilation is preferable? And if that is the case, can Iran take Israel down with it, as many here seem to think?

Seem like pretty substantial questions to ponder. IMO of course.

That is mere speculation, coming from, as you admit, fear and assumptions. I cannot say anything about such speculation at all.

I'm an American. Perhaps you can point out where I've acted arrogantly?

The reality is if Iran does indeed have nuclear weapons, why have they not demonstrated this to the world already? Some of you have been openly calling for Iran to use nuclear weapons on Israel. They have not.

I remain confident that if Iran does indeed possess a nuclear weapon, the world would know about it.

I could say the usual 'it is up to the Iranians to decide' ;) But IMO, if Iran capitulates on Netanyahu's demands then Iran is finished as a sovereign nation! It was one thing for Pakistan to have bowed to the American demands after 9/11, which was the right decision looking at where Pakistan stands now; Pakistani and American geopolitical interests have never too much collided. But this is Israel vs Iran. Netanyahu and the State of Israel will never allow a credible power in their vicinity!
Otherwise, this is not America's war and had it been ANY other American President then Trump, we would not be seeing the aggressiveness against Iran and against the Middle East in general. And thus I said above: As long as Trump is the POTUS, Netanyahu will keep trying to figure out ways to destroy Iran!

That is why I clearly said that having a "Death to USA" mantra that others can use to their advantage in getting US support against Iran DOES NOT HELP IRAN!

It is Iran's sovereign right to seek and get nuclear technology as it sees fit, but is it willing and able to bear all the costs that come associated with such a pursuit? Pakistan clearly achieved it against all odds. Where Iran goes is all important is determining peace or war at this critical juncture.

Iran has entered into war with two nuclear powers, Israel and the United States, at the same time. It is unlikely that Iran does not have a nuclear bomb. Also, having a nuclear bomb does not necessarily mean using it.

About the nukes, I have said it several times: That option is long gone for Iran. Had they developed enrichment many years ago, weaponized and credibly tested delivery mechanisms like Pakistan and India did decades ago then maybe a chance. But even in case of Pakistan and India, they fired missiles against each other in May 2025 despite the so-called 'nuclear deterrence'. So what of Iran vs the American might?? Iran's 'nukes' were its militias on Israel's borders but those options are greatly diminished since early 2025.
Going forward, it is the fear of American casualties and a major disruption of global trade which is preventing an all out war but I don't think Netanyahu is going to stop finding ways to destroy Iran as long as Trump is the POTUS. We have three more years to bear this tension!

The prime time for Iran to develop nuclear weapons was probably in the 90s when Saddan Hussein and a number of other anti-Israel Arab states still existed. That way Israel's attention was not fully concentrated on Iran. Now Iran is the last man standing.
