45F here in NE Oklahoma, warmest at any time of day since January 22nd, when I shut the water off at the main.

Will take a nice long hot shower at the truck stop tonight, hopefully for the last time.

Happy Groundhog Day!

Let's see what Punxsutawney Phil says about more winter today.

Will take a nice long hot shower at the truck stop tonight, hopefully for the last time.

You must have really bad experience with garden faucets bursting! I simply cover them with a fabric made for freezes and I don't even let indoor faucets drip. Or maybe I am just being lucky!

It is about 12 F / -10 C right now. Hard frozen some front steps because doesn't get much sun.

For past several years, wife and I have been talking about going to Punxutawney for the event but just not able to. However, we do watch the Bill Murray 'Groundhog Day' movie and scenes from it a lot leading to the day. What fun the event must be!

Again, many older homes in Oklahoma were not built for extreme cold. Mine was built before indoor plumbing - the water lines exposed to the air coming up from the ground.

Many who I warned to turn off the water at the main are now dealing with bursting pipes as the temps rise.
