Imo it's going more Rafales unless the😀French **** up with greed and high prices
I think the fact we have 36 and navy soon receiving 26 Marine Rafales as well the air force will go down this route it's easier to embed it Integrated Air command network etc ...

The desire to make Tejas and Amca remains the main goal

Su57e is back up plan if Amca is delayed

I do believe India ferks 30 or so J35 in Pak air force will add not too much threat that the combination of S400 Navic satalites Super Mki and Rafales F4/F5 can't handle in a short war

This news suggests Safran might not be as locked in for the engine partner as was reported a few months back when they were reported to be finalising the MOU after being selected as the preferred partner.



Rolls Royce CEO says they are planning a major investment in Indian production to make it their third foreign home market after Germany and the US. They are finalising the MOU to supply engines for Arjun tanks (presumably the Mk2) as well as another land combat vehicle program, they are in talks to produce the engine for the AMCA and a marine derivative of the turbine for the Indian Navy's ships.

As I said already so often! A deal is official, when the Western contractor confirms it and not when any random Indian fan-site or X-account claims again whatever the hell!

Well I have mixed opinions on this. HAL is already full with $30 billion worth orderbook to execute, and they have to first address that, while also being the only firm with fighter jet building experience in India. But this monopoly isn't really great for us.

While private sector firms however efficient on paper, will have to see these screwdrivering experts if they put in their own money on human resource acquisition while having zero experience in final assembly.

But private firms also have been involved in fighter jet projects as well, when almost all the Indian made components of Tejas are made by the private sector with HAL being the final integrator, which would have been the case with AMCA too had it been with HAL, meaning private sector firms will need to work out on final assembly works as they already have fuselage and LRU contracts more or less given.

I feel it would've been better to make prototypes with HAL and the consortium separately and give production contract to the private consortium to speed things up.

The only reason AMCA prototype is still not being built is because of this tussle between PSU/Private sector contract in the minds of MoD. Pretty fucked up.

It's a make or break moment for Pvt Players as well. For the first time they will be assigned with a mega Strategic Project. Let's see what comes out if it.
HAL as final integrator will again be as problematic as the current projects such as MK1 A and MK2..
