Indian Air Force News and Discussions ll

In the 80s when china and India were equal everyone and their granny said india which is a democracy, English speaking and hard-working will allow them to pull far ahead of china in coming years. How wrong they all were....they didn't know the levels of Incompetence that Indians can possess.

Look, even turkey is much ahead.

I say even because many Indian friends will believe that they are
smarter, richer and stronger but clearly not.

The Chinese got much smarter much sooner.

People will make their own conclusions

1984 - China and India both decide to make indigenous jet engine

what went wrong with India?

i know it took blood sweat and tears and the metallurgy mastery require thousands of engines to be destroyed for trial but still, india seems to have given up?
Link not working

I fear he's indicating joning FCAS.

The French will want/take your money, but they will have little time for the Indian finger waving opinions that would come with such money, so it is an outside chance imho. Indians wont be able to contain themselves with their "advice", etc.

Be interesting. French had given Germans two fingers, did not want to share tech knowhow with them and said Germans could not contribute much.

In this case seems India's extensive product knowledge and experiance in developing and operationalising modern 5th gen engines, airframes, radars and avionics will undoubetdly see the French running to them....

Comming from an Air Marshall whose entiring carrer was to sit in his armchair, it is usefull.

why should any French take offense about any re. on the IAF?!

I could be wrong or right!

why should it bother you!

every Air Marshall sits on arm chair!

didnt know otherwise, would be possible!

The day this thing ever comes to actual scale and fruition will be something to celebrate. Until then it's best left on usual celebratory coconut cracking ceremonies for every other new face or new "milestone".

Already in limited series production, with first units delivered by Godrej and has complete most of it's tests and some hours of high altitude testing is left.

This is KDE, not the earlier one which ended up being a TD, although it is still being tested and is indicated to fly with LCA Tejas in near future with the new afterburner section.

PSU, monopoly, too much bureaucracy and most importantly, money. China did many things right and still it is behind western counterparts. When China is unable to "crack" it, considering their single minded efficiency, India never had any chance. Claiming something on paper doesn't build things.

India has not given up. It is simply going small and private.

The French have serious competition for development of a fifth generation engine specically for the Indian military...
Rolls Royce are not going away

Safren leads but the British are eyeing the massive Indian market for both engines and fighters

I think what people fail to acknowledge in this forum is just how massive and lucrative the Indian market is in the coming two decades

USA had just won a 80 billion dollar deal for civilian airlines
France has won a 45 billion dollar for 145 Rafales for air force and navy combined ...well Marine Rafales signed last year And Macron to finalise the Airforce one later this year..

British already have Indians owning jaguar land rover and other big companies in United Kingdom.

I fully expect Indian footprint to grow in British and German military markets submarines from Germany and potentially both Engines and Sixth generation fighters from UK
Right now France had it's teeth into India and will not give easily

By 90s indian socialist economy was bankrupt. We had to pledge our Gold for one week worth foreign loan..
Economic reform of 91 brought much needed relief. Only by late 90s we had enough to spent some on such projects. By then it was too late. We had to import a lot of stuff..

Indian defense minster is pushing India to entering sixth generation engine technology asap..
There is an urgency india it appears recently

Rafale deal to be signed immenently
Massive push for next generation engines developement with European help
Even talk of Gcap and Fcas in future
It's all Europe now
India had told Russia no Su57 deal until the Ukraine war is over the want to avoid caatsa sanctions from USA
And definitely no USA fighters like F35
