TUSAŞ General Manager Mehmet Demiroğlu:

➡️ATAK-2 was designed as a heavy-class helicopter, but the need for a general-purpose helicopter came to the forefront due to licensing problems experienced with the T-70s.

➡️Therefore, the T-925 general-purpose helicopter project was prioritized in collaboration with the Undersecretariat of Defense Industries (SSB), while ATAK-2 was put on hold at the preliminary design stage.

➡️Approximately 60% of the components, such as rotors, transmission, engine, and avionics, will be shared between the T-925 and ATAK-2. Currently, all focus is on the T-925.

➡️This helicopter will make its first flight this year. TEI is working on domestic engine.

➡️8 units will be produced for the General Directorate of Forestry, and deliveries will begin in 2028

My predictions are coming true. lol

This helicopter will be produced with the T700-TEI-701D.

After Gokbey, it has been demonstrated that Turkey can produce every aspect of the helicopter with the exception of the Engine. The infrastrcuture from the Gokbey program is still there.

So just produce a domestic version of the T-70. No need for Lockheed.

Produce it with TAI and use the GE engine thats license produced in Turkey by Tusas.

Not yet. Still in certification. Serial production has not started, the Gokbeys currently being delivered are using LHTEC CTS800-4A. The TS-1400 will be used in 2027 for deliveries.

so which engine powers the T625 Gokbey ? can this engine not be easily fitted to T129 attack helicopter and sold to Pakistan ? why was there issues if TS1400 is ready and under production on Gokbey

and why TS1400 cannot be used on T70 not enough power can they use TS3000?

secondly TS3000 powers ATAK-II and T625? if so why does ATAK-2 need to slow down if similar parts are being crossed used can they not proceed with ATAK-2 + T625 simultaneously

T625 Gokbey, the current one being produced and delivered is being powered by the LHTEC CTS800-4A which is a US/UK engine Turkey license produces, the domestic TEI TS1400 is undergoing certification for civilian use, 2027, the Gokbeys will switch engines to TS1400.

This engine can be fitted to the T129(Light Attack Helicopter), but that will take time, first the civilian variant for the Gokbey will be put into production, then a military variant of the engine will be created.

Pakistan has already moved on from the T129, they bought a Chinese helicopter. They could buy the Turkish helicopter but its not likely as its an overlapping capability, but who knows.

TS1400 cannot be used on the T70, its a different class helicopter, Gokbey is a light helicopter and T70 is a medium/Heavy sized helicopter.

Yes, TS3000 is currently in development and will be power the ATAK-II and T925, but it will be a while. Initial production of T929(ATAK-II) and T925 will likely use the T700-TEI-701D from GE, that Turkey license builds in Turkey. Initial plans were for the Ukrainian engine, but things seem to have changed.

To make things Simple

Light Helicopter Civilian(T-625 Gokbey) - Initial powerplant LHTEC CTS-800 - Intended powerplant TS-1400

Light Helicopter Attack(T-129 ATAK) - Initial powerplant LHTEC CTS-800 - Intended powerplant TS-1400

Heavy Helicopter Civilian(T925) - Initial powerplant T700-TEI-701D - Intended powerplant TS3000

Heavy Helicopter Attack(T929 ATAK-II) - Initial powerplant T700-TEI-701D - Intended powerplant TS3000
