Iran belongs to the "wrong" sect. Fighting Israel for Islam means also fighting against Israels stooges, which are majority of muslim countries. Therefore fighting for islam makes no sense.

I think it is more complicated then that with lot of caveats but it is futile to dissect those in current situation but if iranian leadership thinks like you do problem is much bigger then argumentative talk on forum.
