Noob question but does china have an NLAW Equivalent? if it does then why Pak hasn't gone for it or why not just go for the real deal from Saab? also seeing the situation in ukraines blackmarkets , people have found almost intact NLAWs so why hasn't china reverse engineered it

NLAW only suitable for close range/urban areas, javelin on the other hand used for long range/open areas. Ukraine doesn't even use NLAW that much now as the war has moved form cities to the county side

We already have NLAW equivalent from Spain. The Alcotan 100 with VOSEL guidance sight.

China's anti-tank missiles primarily consist of the "Red Arrow" series. There is a wide variety of models within this series; you may consult relevant sources for further information.

The distinction lies in China's current development trend: the "Red Arrow" series of anti-tank missiles is shifting toward vehicle-mounted platforms. While man-portable anti-tank missiles do exist, they are primarily intended for export; the PLAGF has not adopted such weapons on a large scale. Only a small number of units are equipped with this type of portable anti-tank missile.

The primary reason for this is that the operational concept underlying man-portable anti-tank missiles does not align with the strategic direction of the PLAGF.

Why not buy the karaok ATGM is large numbers ? It is just 16kg (launcher+missile) and have good enough range. It seems the perfect option for infantry level Anti tank operations.

Additionally, Chinese GAM-100 is also a perfect alternative. Upto 2500 meter range, just 13kg weight and offers thermal targeting as well.

One think we should have them in large quantities by now. But then again we are long due on replacing our infantry rifle as well.

Why are there so few threads here? No threas on APCs , IFVs nor how to handle indian army aviation or a tleast what our options against the Apaches will be etc etc...

What makes this platform "5th Generation" ?

At this point, Pakistan should have developed its own version of Javelin/NLAW, but all we see if iterations of the same platform. There is a lack of real core R&D capabilities in Pakistan as demonstrated by many projects that Pakistan did a TOT on, but then was not able to further develop new contemporary platforms.

What makes this platform "5th Generation" ?

According to this research paper Analysis of the development of five generation of anti-armor missile systems, 5th Generation anti-tank systems are characterized by following:

1- LOBL (Lock-On Before Launch)
2- BLOS (Beyond Line of Sight)
3- LOAL (Lock-on After Launch)
4- NLOS (Non-Line of Sight)
5- PLOS (Predicted Line of Sight)

As well as Inertial Guidance, Fire and Forget, Man in the Loop Mode with EO seeker etc.

If Baktar Shikan's 5th Gen has the above features then its true. Also having top attack feature is a killer.
